INCREASED OFFERTORY PROGRAM
This week you will receive a brochure detailing the Increased Offertory Program St. Barbara Parish will be participating in over the next few weeks. This informative brochure is intended to
communicate how we, as a parish, want to advance our mission and how we are serving God’s people in our community. Commitment Weekend for this program is next weekend, October
6th & 7th. We encourage all parishioners to spend time in prayer and discussion with your family reflecting on how you are able to help us. We look forward to seeing all of our parishioners at
Mass next weekend for this important Commitment Weekend. If you have any questions regarding the Increased Offertory Program, please feel free to contact the parish office.

UPCOMING EVENTS IN THE NORTH REGION
We are all living through such difficult times in our Church and it is confusing where to turn to for solid an-swers and for any idea what each of us can do. The North Region Office is offering occasions where our voices
and our prayers can be heard.
1. On Tuesday, October 16 at 7:00pm Saint Theresa Parish, 63 Winter Street, North Reading, will be holding a Rosary for Healing and Protection to pray for victims of abuse including those abused by clergy. This event had been scheduled with the Archdiocesan Office of Pastoral Support & Child Protection prior to the latest revelations. Bishop O’Connell cannot think of a better way to react to the crisis in our Church than to come and pray with those who have been victimized. Stand with the victims and show our support by at-tending this event. What a powerful statement we could make if this becomes an event that draws a lot of people. It is humbling that those who have been hurt by priests will come and pray with us. Surely many of you can make this a priority to come.

Questions about the Religious Education Program can be directed to Sandra Strong, Coordinator at 781-933-6472 or at [email protected] We are looking forward to another great year of Religious Education! Registration materials for all families have been mailed. Please return your forms and registration fees as soon as possible. New families can request registration materi-als by calling the Religious Education Office or by emailing the coordinator. Many exciting changes have been made to the Religious Education Program as we are now part of the Woburn Catholic Collaborative. Classes will now be held in the church twice a month on either Wednesday afternoons or Sunday morn-ings. Families will be contacted by teachers to inform them of your child’s class day and time.
TEACHERS Teachers are very much needed for all grade levels. Teacher meetings are scheduled for this month. Please make every attempt to attend the meeting for your grade level. If interested in taking on a class, please let Sandra Strong, Coordina-tor of Religious Education know. Training and materials are provided for all teachers. We are offering an $80 discount off registration fees for teachers who have children enrolled in the program and have completed the required training. If you taught last year and are teaching a new grade level this year, please return your Teacher Manual so that we can use them for teachers this year. These can be returned to the church.
PARENTS Parent meetings are scheduled for this month. At these meetings we discuss the program, the schedule and special ses-sions that are offered. Please make every attempt to attend the meeting appropriate for your family. Attendance at these meetings is part of the contract that families sign when completing the Registration forms. Your support and participation are very much appreciated. New to the Program this year will be monthly Family Masses. Held on the second Sunday of each month, this Mass will offer students and families the opportunity to participate in a special way. The first Family Mass for the year will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday, October 14
th. This Mass will focus on our Confirmation candidates and they will be presented to
our faith community along with their Sponsor. The Family Mass planned for November 11
th, will be a Welcome Mass for our First Sacrament students.
Helping Our Troops began in 2006. This program was created in an effort to support our American Hero's from Massachusetts serving overseas. As of January 2017, we have proudly shipped
out over 100 TONS of goods to the soldiers we support overseas. Packing is on the second Tuesday of each month. from 3- 5:00 pm in the Banquet Hall at
Stoneham Townhall. Community hours for students can be earned. At this time, we are desperately in need of food/toiletry donations. If you could help, please

Meet Father Donohoe-“I am with you; wherever you are, wherever you go, I am with you.”Father Stephen Donohoe embraced a vocation to serve as a priest of the Archdiocese of Boston. As a young man, he felt the first signs of God’s presence in the Holy Eucharist; that force would become what he describes today as “the bedrock of his priesthood.”
After ordination, Father Donohoe became a military chaplain. During deployment, he provided for the spiritual needs of men and women facing combat. He never abandoned those entrusted to his care and stood by them at every point. Father Donohoe continues this steadfast ministry today in the parishes of the Archdiocese. He says “a great joy of ministry is to see the grace of God enlighten the lives of other people. If we bring people to the Lord, He’ll do everything.”
To help ensure priests like Father Donohoe are cared for as they live out their vocation, please support the special collection on September 15-16.
