Editor’s Note:As we go through our daily lives, we take so much for granted. One good example of this that truly stands out is our health.

We are living in an epidemic where our health is controlled and manipulated by pharma-ceuticals. Death and disease are no longer for the aged – anyone at any time can fall vic-tim, parents are losing their children at an alarming rate, friends losing friends much earlier in life than expected. Cancer, heart disease, diabetes and pharmaceutical drugs are the main causes of death in Canada and possibly around the world. We have to take control of our health and not wait on a fatal diagnosis. By the time you start experiencing symptoms and your doctor tells you the words you don’t want to hear, it might just be too late.

However It is never too late to start changing your lifestyle and opting for better health. Your body will thank you if you do!

When sickness and disease come, our life as we know it grinds to a halt. Everything we think is important goes out the window and nothing becomes more important than re-covery. We will spend down to our last dime and travel to the ends of the earth to fi nd a cure. We’ll take almost anything to get better.

Although I will bring with me toys and school supplies for the hundreds of children I see on my visits, I am looking at Haiti with the eyes of

a visitor. I look at the country and imagine introduc-ing strangers to this place that I have grown to love so much.
