WITCH DOCTORS

African Witchcraft supersedes what is/was found in Europe in the 14th and 15th century, the origin

comes from Egyptian witchcraft and Arabic Sihr.

“It’s focused on magic and spells, they have a big influence in they’re community as people believe

they can use potions and various other practices to change a persons life with it be for good or evil”

In many African nations cultural superstition pervades every notion of logic, when things fail, people

will believe it’s cursed over other explanations, and it’s the same for when A child gets sick, or even

when a house burns down

“The last piece of this puzzle can be found in the belief among witch doctors in Africa that albino

body parts have mystical, magical properties. They use these body parts to make potions and cast

spells that allegedly make people wealthy and prosperous.”

In the eastern African nation of Tanzania, the problem is more severe than anywhere else. It is a

nation with some 270,000 albinos all living in fear of their lives. When a single limb can fetch a price as

high as £2,500 murder becomes a very lucrative business.

WITCH DOCTORS visual research

It isn’t unusual for the Witch Doctors

to be bare foot and covered in face

paint, they would have they’re

potions and tribal objects around

them, face masks are also apart of

their apparel, they are the

personification of spirits and in history

were considered to be sacred

elements.

Theses people lived just outside their

community, living in small a remote

area, they’re rarely depicted as

overweight and they were either

underweight or had an average

body type, and these men and

women were well into their 40’s
