Inadequate existing technologies

RO: Reverse Osmosis remove both TDS* and TSS*, but:• Very low tolerance to fouling impurities

(e.g. TSS) and require stringent pre-treatment.

• Low chemical tolerance.• High cost and skill required for

maintenance.• Low recovery ratio.

RO and ED: Two major existing technologies with TDS removal ability

ED: Electrodialysis can remove ionic mineral TDS, has high recovery ratio and are more tolerable to TSS and chemical, but:• Can not remove TSS and non-ionic TDS.• Low output purity.• Higher energy consumption at high TDS

input.* TDS: Total dissolved solids, solids that can not be removed by normal filters, including inorganic and organic substances contained in a liquid in molecular, ionized or micro-granular (colloidal sol) suspended form.* TSS: Total suspended solids, Refers to paticales that can be filtered out but are not settleable, including small particles, pathogens such as protozoa, bacteria, and suspended colloids.

ICP: Ion Concentration PolarizationA new water technology that breaks limitations

• Unparalleled Ability: TSS (e.g. Bacteria, viruses, proteins and other organics) removal with intrinsic anti-fouling, together with TDS (e.g. salt, hardness, heavy metal) removal. *No other technology can do this!

• Break through efficiency: Desalination at unbelievable 120.8% current efficiency. *Which is 20% higher than all other technologies

• High chemical and PH tolerance.• ICP Provides new possibilities for

those tasks which cannot be handled by others. It is also better and cheaper in many applications due to less pre-treatment, less maintenance, CEM only, higher membrane efficiency and less energy use.

High salinity brine purification • RO can not handle

it• MSF/MVR cost too

high• ICP is better than

ED in energy consumption, membrane fouling, and reliability.

New theory developed to explain and predict ICP’s above 100% current efficiency.

Hundreds of tests by Wisewater and MIT verified the superior performances of ICP and PED. Papers published, patents filed.

Ultra high removal of PED was confirmed by tests in SGS S.A.
