calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly
standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. 27
But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God
chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; 28 God chose
what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to
bring to nothing things that are, 29 so that no human being might
boast in the presence of God. 30 And because of him you are in
Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and
sanctification and redemption, 31 so that, as it is written, Let
the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.

WORLDVIEW: timeEYES: gateway to the heartMatt. 6:21-23 For where
your treasure is, there your heart will be also. The eye is the

be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how
great is the darkness!

there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9

Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you

place, but instead let there be thanksgiving.

So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great
things. great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire! 6 And
the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set
among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the
entire course of life, and set on fire by hell. 7 For every kind of
beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has
been tamed by mankind, 8 but no human being can tame the tongue. It
is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With it we bless our
Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the
likeness of God. 10 From the same mouth come blessing and cursing.
My brothers, these things ought not to be so. 11 Does a spring pour
forth from the same opening both fresh and salt water? 12 Can a fig
tree, my brothers, bear olives, or a grapevine produce figs?
Neither can a salt pond yield fresh water.
