UPCOMING GAMES

BACK-TO-BACK-TO-BACKWisconsin recorded its 30th win of the season against Green Bay on April 16, marking the third time in the past three seasons UW has posted 30+ wins. It is the first time in school history the Badgers have recorded three consecutive 30 win seasons.

HOME WRECKERSThe Badgers’ 5-2 defeat of Nebraska over the weekend marked just the third home loss for the Huskers in the past two seasons, with two-of-the-three losses coming at the hands of the Badgers.

HOME-SWEET-HOMEThe Badgers’ April 16 home start was the latest home opener in school history. During the 2001 season, UW opened its season on April 13, while in 2003 the home opener was held on April 11.

UW’s 37-game road swing was the second longest in school history. In 2001 UW played its first 38 games away from Madison.

B1G ROAD WINSWisconsin’s seven Big Ten road wins are tied for second-most league road victories in program history. In 2005, eight of the Badgers’ 11 league wins were on the road, while in 1999 they posted seven league victories on the road.

BLACKSHEAR HITTING BOMBSA game-winning home run against Nebraska moved Shannel Blackshear just one home run away from tying the UW career home run mark. Blackshear’s 29 career homers rank second, while Katie Hnatyk owns the record with 30.

REACHING BASEKendall Grimm’s reached base streak came to an end against Green Bay on April 16. The senior reached base successfully in 24-consecutive games from March 1-April 14, the second longest streak in UW record books. Joey Daniels holds the school record with 25 set from May 5, 2007 to Feb. 16, 2008.

WISCONSIN OPENS SEASON WITH PROGRAM-BEST STARTUW’s win over Iowa on March 29 was its 24th of the season, marking the program’s best record after 30 games. Twice -- in 2000 and 2002 -- Wisconsin started its season with a 20-10 record.

WISCONSIN WINNING STREAKWisconsin posted a school record 13-straight victories with a win over Illinois on March 23. UW’s winning streak started with an 11-4 win over CSU-Bakersfield on March 2 and ended with a 2-1, nine inning, loss at Iowa March 29.

BADGERS ONE OF BEST AWAY FROM HOMEIn the third release of the RPI on April 15, the Badgers checked in at No. 25 after. At the time of the release, UW was one of 11 teams to not have played in a home game and the only team in the Top-30 without a home game.

NEUTRAL SITE RECORDWith its 9-0 win over Eastern Michigan on March 16, UW recorded its 19th neutral site win of the season, setting a school record for most neutral site wins in a season. The previous record of 18 was set in 2001.

LEAGUE LEADERSThe Badgers rank second in the Big Ten (as of April 17) with a team ERA of 1.85 and batting average of .316. UW’s slugging percentage (.457), on base percentage (.393), hits (334) and stolen bases (77) are all third-best.

BADGERS IN THE POLLSThe Badgers’ hot start drew the attention of coaches and media in the April 1 national polls. For the first time since 2002, Wisconsin was ranked in the national polls. The Badgers were ranked No. 25 in the April 1 edition of the USA Today/NFCA Division I softball poll. After receiving votes in the previous three ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Polls, UW made its program debut in the poll at No. 23.

Wisconsin was last ranked in a national poll during the 2002 season, checking in at No. 25 in the USA Today/NFCA rankings on March 21. The Badgers’ highest ranking came in the 2001 season when they were ranked No. 21 three times.

Following its series loss at Minnesota, the Badgers dropped out of both April 8 polls, receiving 16 votes in the NFCA poll and 19 in the USA Softball poll. This week, UW received seven votes in the USA Softball poll and 15 in the NFCA poll.

THE BIG TEN’S BESTFor the first time in program history, five different Badgers have earned Big Ten weekly honors. UNTOUCHABLEMeghan McIntosh threw her second no-hitter of the season on April 7 against Minnesota, becoming the second Badger to throw two no-hitters in the same season. McIntosh threw her first career no-hitter on March 10 against Eastern Kentucky, while Cassandra Darrah accomplished the feat on Feb. 22 against Georgia Southern to mark the first UW no-hitter in 12 seasons. It is the first time in school history that the Badgers have recorded three no-hitters in the same season and the first time that two different pitchers have achieved the feat.

BADGERS TAKE DOWN CARDINALUW’s 4-0 win over No. 16 Stanford on March 1 marked the program’s first win over a ranked opponent since the 2005 season when it defeated No. 19 Iowa. The win was also the first ever over the Cardinal.

MASSEY SETS DOUBLES RECORDWhitney Massey hit six doubles at the Diamond 9 Tournament Feb. 22-24, breaking UW’s career doubles record with a two-bagger on Saturday, Feb. 23, against Boston University. Massey now has 47 career doubles, besting the previous record of 36 set by Julie Borchard in 1999.

The senior added a pair at the Saluki Invitational March 9-10 to tie the UW school record of 114 set by Julie Borchard. Blackshear recorded five at the Louisville Classic to take ownership of the mark with 119 career RBI. The senior now has 130 career RBI.

MASSEI STREAKINGMary Massei recorded a hit in the first 11 games of the season, tying a career-best hitting streak. Massei’s hitting streak ended against Cal State Fullerton on Feb. 28, but her on base streak continued until March 3, reaching 16 games.

BADGERS TAKE DOWN IRISHUW posted two wins over Notre Dame at the First Pitch Classic and both wins came courtesy of the long ball. Michelle Mueller’s home run and Cassandra Darrah’s strong performance in the circle led the Badgers to a 1-0 win over Notre Dame on Feb. 9 and it was three, two-run homers on Feb. 10 that led UW to a thrilling 11 inning win.

MASSEI HITS WALK OFFMary Massei recorded the Badgers first walk off home run in almost four seasons, The junior right fielder belted a two-run home run in the 11th inning against Notre Dame on Feb. 10 to lead the Badgers to victory. It was the first walk off homer for UW since 2008 when Valyncia Raphael hit the game-winner against Princeton.

MASSEI PRODUCTIVE AT THE PLATEMary Massei crossed home plate five times in the Badgers’ 12-3 win over Charlotte on Feb. 8. Massei used four hits and one walk to score a school-record five runs.

HEALY WINS 200TH GAMEThe Badgers’ win over Georgia Southern on Feb. 22 marked head coach Yvette Healy’s 200th career win. Now in her ninth season of collegiate coaching, Healy holds a career 225-223-1 record. In three seasons at UW, Healy has posted a 94-51 record.

Yvette Healy concluded her second season as head coach at Wiscon-sin in 2012 with a program-best tying 34 wins, including 13 Big Ten victories, the most ever at UW. It was the Badgers’ second-conscutive 30-win season under Healy, marking the first time since 2002 that UW recorded back-to-back 30-win seasons. Wisconsin’s offense set school records with a .300 batting average, .385 on base percentage and .426 slugging percentage. UW recorded more runs (272), doubles (73) and RBI (230) than any other Badger softball team. Whitney Massey set a single-season record and led the Big Ten with 22 doubles, while Maria Van Abel set a freshman single-season record with 17 stolen bases. The Badgers swept Minnesota and Penn State at Goodman Diamond on their way to a school record 13-game home win streak. Wisconsin also recorded a school-best nine-game win streak from April 3-14. In her first season at the helm of the program in 2011, Healy led the Badgers to 30 wins for just the sixth time in school history.
