EH1: Elm High Road/A47 Roundabout

Key points to the scheme

The scheme looks to deliver:

A positive impact on A47 journey time reliability

A positive impact upon the A1101 with improved north/south traffic flows at the

roundabout

Improve access to/from the A47

Maximised use of existing infrastructure in the new layout

A positive impact upon the local environment

Improve the potential for sustainable transport provision

Why?

The existing northbound and southbound approaches to the Elm High Road / A47

roundabout have been identified as areas where traffic congestion can form ,

especially at peak times of the day.

What’s the plan?

Improve the existing roundabout and approaches to increase capacity of the junction

and improve performance and safety.

Install dedicated turning lanes on Elm High Road (A1101)

Improvement existing pedestrian crossings at the junction

An interim scheme before more significant improvements are made in the next phase

of the Wisbech Access Strategy
