W ireless Senso r Networks:Architectures Protocols and ManagementInstructor: Professor Meh met Ulema Manhattan College USWireless sensor networks an example of the paradigm shift taking place in wireless networkarchitectures. A wireless sensor network consists o f arge numbers o f sensors wh ich are tinylow-cost low-po wer ra dio devices dedicated to perfor min g cellain functions such as collectin gvarious environmental data and sending them to infrastructure processing nodes. The fieldo f wircless sensor networking i s also gaining greater interest among no t on ly researchers butalso diverse groups such as environmental publ ic safety medicine and military. This tutorialw il l start wit h an o\ crvicw o f he wireless sensor networks. review of he current techno-logies used for these types o wireless networks wil l be provided next. The focus w il l he onthe architectural ssues such as topology routing and protoco ls. Finally the netwo rk mana-gement issues related to wireless sensor networks wo uld he discussed. The tutorial w il lconcludc with a discussion oft he open research problems in this area.
