Project Overview

• Two generation upgrade, current technology 9 years old

• Replace existing Cisco with Aruba

• Aruba is new UCSF standard

• Optimized AP placement / coverage

• Wall to wall coverage with the exception of stairwells and elevators.

• 5x greater capacity

Migration Plan

• Installation of all new access points (APs) and cabling throughout hospital prior to upgrade is in progress.

• Dual Team approach:1. Migration Team – Cutover from Cisco to Aruba.

2. Problem Resolution Team – Resolve any wireless problems related to the upgrade.

• Upgrade will start in basement and move up on a floor-by-floor basis.

• Special planning considerations for ORs and ICUs.

• IT staff will be on-site to resolve wireless issues during and after the migration.

• IT Command Center will be in effect to coordinate efforts.
