Turn on the computer andInsert the D- Link Xtreme G+ DWL-G520+Driver CD in the CD-ROM drive.The step-by-step instructions that follow are shown inWindows XP. The steps and screens are similar forthe other Windows operating systems
Insert the D-Link CD-ROM Into YourComputer
Do NOT install the DWL-G520+Wireless PCI Adapterinto your computerbefore installing thedriver software fromthe D-Link CD!
You must have at least the following:• A desktop computer with an available 32-bit PCI slot• At least a 300 MHz processor and 32MB of memory• An 802.11g or 802.11b Access Point (for Infrastructure Mode) or another
802.11g or 802.11b wireless adapter (for Ad-Hoc; Peer-to-Peer networkingmode.)

The Install Screen will appear.
If the CD Autorun functiondoes not automatically starton your computer , type“D:\Setup.exe.” If it doesstart, proceed to the nextscreen.
The letter “D” represents theletter of the CD-ROMdrive. Your CD-ROMdrive may be a differentdrive letter.
Type “D:\Setup.exe.”
Click OK

Installing the DWL-G520+ Wireless PCIAdapter in Your Computer
A. Make sure to turn off your computer and unplug the power cord.Remove the back cover of the computer.
B. Install the DWL-G520+ carefully and firmly seat it into an available PCI slot(which is usually “white” or “cream” colored).
C. Secure the DWL-G520+ back panel shield with a screw.D. Replace the computer’s cover.E. Place the computer back in its normal position.F. Attach the DWL-G520+’s antenna to the socket on the back panel shield.

Restart Your Computer
When you restart your computerthis Found New HardwareWizard (Windows XP) screenwill appear:
Click Next
For Windows XP: This HardwareInstallation alert screen may appearafter the desktop computer restarts.
Select Install the softwareautomatically (Recommended)
Click Continue Anywayto finalize the installation
Click Finish to finalizethe installation.

For Windows 2000, thisDigital Signature Not
Found screen may appearafter your computer restarts.
The D-Link driver software for this device is undergoing Windows Logo testing. Microsoft
certification is pending.
Click Yes to finalize theinstallation.

After you’ve continued in Windows 2000, ME, or 98SE, the D-Link AirPlus XtremeG+ DWL-G520+ Configuration Utility will automatically start and the utility iconwill appear in the bottom right hand corner of the desktop screen (systray). If thisicon appears GREEN, then you have successfully installed the DWL-G520+,are connected to a wireless network and are ready to communicate!
Double-click the utility icon touse the configuration utility.
If the utility icon does not appear,double-click the shortcut icon thathas appeared on your desktop.

Appendix
Click the XP Networking iconto use the Zero ConfigurationWireless Settings.
Click Advanced
Uncheck “Use Windows toconfigure my wireless net-work settings.
Click OK
For Windows XP, if you wish to use the Xtreme G+ utility, please do the followingsteps.

A. Status: Displays theMAC Address of theAccess Point that isassociated with theDWL-G520+.
B. SSID: The Service SetIdentifier is the nameassigned to the wirelessnetwork. The factorySSID setting is set todefault.
C. TxRate: The default setting isAuto; meaning, TxRate settingsare automatically determined bythe DWL-G520+ depending on thedistance from the access point.
E. Link Quality / Signal Strength:Displays the Link Quality for the DWL-G520+ wireless connection to theaccess point. The Signal Strengthrepresents the wireless signal betweenthe access point and the DWL-G520+.The percentage coincides with thegraphical bar.
D. Channel: Displays thechannel information. Bydefault, the channel is setto 6. Please note that theDWL-G520+ will automati-cally adjust channeldepending on the AccessPoint.
F. Data Rate:Graphically displaysthe statistics of datatransmitted andreceived.

G. SSID: The Service SetIdentifier is the name as-signed to the wirelessnetwork. The factory SSIDsetting is set to default. Makechanges here to match theSSID on existing WirelessRouter or Access Point.
H. Wireless Mode:The factory setting isset to Infrastructure.Ad-Hoc mode is usedfor peer-to-peernetworking.
I. Channel: By default, thechannel is set to 6. Channelselection is automaticallyadjusted by the DWL-G520+depending on the channelsetting of the access pointselected for association. Tochange the channel settings,the Wireless Mode must beset to Ad-hoc.
J. TxRate: You can adjust thetransmission rate to get the bestsignal possible depending onyour usage and your environment.

K. Power Mode: By default, Power Mode is setto Continuous Access Mode. ContinuousAccess Mode — this default setting con-sumes the most power. Maximum PowerSave — this setting consumes the leastpower. Power Save — this setting consumesa moderate amount of power.

IP Address ConfigurationTo connect to a network, make surethe proper network settings areconfigured for DWL-G520+.
For Microsoft Windows XP:Go to Start > right click onMy Network Places >select Properties > Double-click onthe Network Connection associatedwith the DWL-G520+.
Input a static IP address in the same rangeas the Wireless Router or Access Point.
