DESCRIPTION
While hopes run high in the LGBT community that last week's hearings before the United States Supreme Court will result in wide-spread change to the status of same-sex marriage in the nation, one Florida legal scholar said that a less revolutionary result is more likely. Last week, the Court heard arguments challenging both the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and California's electoral-based Proposition 8 effectively banning gay marriage.
