Michigan State University, in partnership with global tech giant Wipro, is now offering Chicago Public School teachers the opportunity to participate in an innovative year-long integrated learning experience to build STEM teachers’ capacity to lead and inspire innovative practice in urban K-12 schools. Selected participants will become members of a dynamic learning community and complete nine graduate-level credits linked together by a focus on development of skills, knowledge, enduring mindsets and dispositions for effective science, math, engineering and technology instruction. This unique and challenging experience seeks to empower teachers to create transformative, innovative, and multimodal instructional experiences that integrate content, pedagogy and technology in creative ways. MSU-Wipro STEM & Leadership Teaching Fellowship Program What is involved? Participate in a year-long cohort based hybrid professional development experience (face-to-face and online). Become part of the URBANSTEM Learning & Leadership Community. Earn the MSU Graduate Certificate in STEM Learning & Leadership through completion of selected courses from the award winning MSU graduate program in Educational Technologgy. All face-to-face time (two weeks in summer and periodically during fall & spring) will be at the University Center Conference Chicago. What is required? Must possess a current Professional Educator License, issued by the Illinois State Board of Education. Must have completed 3 full years of Licensed/Certified classroom teaching experience. Must confirm intent to seek and maintain a classroom teaching assignment in Chicago Public Schools, or other approved setting, for a minimum of 2 years following completion program. What do I receive? The full cost of tuition and fees for completion of the MSU Graduate Certificate in STEM Learning & Leadership. A $5000.00 stipend, in recognition of their professional commitment. A tablet computer to facilitate individual program participation and classroom instruction. Additional STEM related materials (textbooks, software, maker education materials, etc.) as needed.
