• Work out in any of our �tness centres – weights and cardio equipment available.

• Play squash at the Y Wright Crescent – conveniently book a squash court online up to seven days in advance.

• Swim lengths or enjoy a recreational or leisure swim in one of our swimming pools.

• Participate in our aqua �t classes, adult learn-to-swim and stroke improvement programs.

• Play basketball, volleyball, or badminton during designated program times.

Youth membershipYouth memberships are all-inclusive. Not only is the general facility access included with youth membership, but so are swimming lessons, youth recreation and sports programs.

Bronze Medallion & Emergency First Aid CPR-BMust have completed Bronze Star or be 13 years of age or older

Bronze Medallion teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water-rescue education: judgment, knowledge, skill and �tness. Rescuers learn tows, carries, defence methods and releases in preparation for challenging rescues of increased risk involving conscious and unconscious victims. Lifesavers develop stroke e�ciency and endurance in a 500m timed swim. Throughout the course participants will also learn the knowledge and practical skills needed for their Emergency First Aid with CPR-B quali�cation.

This proof can come in the form of a letter from your employer or supervisor stating the dates and hours that you have worked along with your job responsibilities.

Aquatic Leadership Program Ages 10-14

Our Aquatic Leadership program was developed in-house by our experienced instructor team to work with kids on fostering leadership and promoting further aquatic education through the Lifesaving Society's courses. This includes swimming skills, �rst aid skills, and leadership training. It is recommended that participants are able to swim a minimum of 50 metres and tread water for 1 minute.

First Aid

Standard First Aid & CPR-CStandard First Aid provides comprehensive training covering all aspects of �rst aid and CPR. Standard First Aid incorporates all of Emergency First Aid and is designed for those who require a more in-depth understanding of �rst aid including; legal implications of �rst aid treatment, spinal injuries, heat or cold injuries, bone and joint injuries, chest injuries and other medical emergencies. This includes a CPR–C Certi�cation. Large groups are welcome to set up individualized courses. Contact the aquatics department to book your workplace or school course.

Kingston Y Penguins Swimming is a swim team for children with physical impairments and their able-bodied siblings. Participants learn through sport, how to set goals and develop self-discipline, while building self-con�dence and maintaining a focus on ability. New registrants please contact Vicki Keith, at [email protected], prior to registering.

Swim Team - Senior Ages 15-25

This group includes competitive swimmers over 15 years of age, as well as any Penguin who is swimming at the Provincial and National level. As part of their registration and membership fee, Senior Penguins also receive all meet fees, Swim Ontario fees and Swimming Canada fees. A minimum of 2 practices per week is required.

Available for members only.$625.00 +HST

Program runs September 23 - May 29Monday - Friday 3:30pm - 5pm

Swim Team - Development Ages 10-14

This group includes competitive swimmers up to 14 years of age. As part of their registration and membership fee, Development Penguins also receive all meet fees, Swim Ontario fees and Swimming Canada fees. A minimum of 2 practices per week is required.

Swim Team - Junior Ages 6-16

This group includes swimmers who are not registered as competitive swimmers yet. As part of the registration and membership fee, Junior Penguins receive a team T-shirt and bathing cap. (These swimmers can participate in the annual Y Penguins swim meet The Big Chill).

Aquatics

Adult Swim Club Ages 18+

Practices are designed to develop �tness and stroke improvement in a supportive environment. Ideal for adults who want to improve their physical �tness through swimming. There are 2 coached practices per week and 1 independent workout.

Participants should be able to swim 8 lengths of the pool front crawl.

Available for members only.$69.00 +HST

Private Coaching Ages 18+

Adults can enjoy 1 hour of technical swimming development broken into two ½ hour sessions with world record holding marathon swimmer and elite professional coach Vicki Keith. The session can be formatted to �t each individuals needs. Focus can be on technical improvement or new skill development. Range of abilities to participate can be newer swimmers who are independent in the water and able to swim short distances through to strong swimmers who want to improve their skills.

Parent & Tot Ages 3 months - 3 years

Must be accompanied by a caregiver in the water

Our Parent and Tot program is designed to foster a positive relationship between your child and swimming. The curriculum is focused on fun activities and games in the pool as well as water comfort.

Little Dippers Ages 3-5

Must be accompanied by a caregiver on deck

The Little Dippers program introduces preschoolers to a wide range of water activities while setting a foundation of swimming skills essential to their safety in water and continuous learning in swim lessons.

Learn to Swim Ages 6-13

Must be accompanied by a caregiver on deck

The Learn to Swim Program is designed to build a love for the water and introduce fundamental swim skills to children over the age of 6.

Star 1-4 Ages 6-13 (if under 10, caregiver must be on deck)

Must have completed Level ‘Swimmer’ or equivalent

The Star 1-4 program focuses on improvement and learning of the core swim strokes as well as con�dence in deep water.

Star 5-7 Ages 6 - 13 (if under 10, caregiver must be on deck)

Must have completed Star 4 level or equivalent

The Star 5-7 program focuses on building endurance while streamlining the core swim strokes. This program will also introduce participants to some basic lifesaving skills included in the Lifesaving Society's Swim Patrol program.

Becoming a Lifeguard requires participants to complete several courses including Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross and National Lifeguard. A strong knowledge base in Lifesaver theory, rescue skills and physical �tness are needed to be successful in these courses. Whether you’re preparing to take on the next course, waiting to become of age or need extra time outside the course dates, our private lessons.

Jr. NBA Youth Basketball Ages 5 - 12

Youth will get to learn new skills and develop in our NEW Jr. NBA basketball program. The Jr. NBA program is a national youth basketball program designed to develop fundamental skills, sportsmanship and a love of the game of basketball. Families will receive a player package including Under Armour t-shirt, basketball, drawstring bag, certi�cate, and poster and also a parents’ guide for all Jr. NBA parents.

Total Life Care specialty programs (TLC) are designed to meet a variety of conditions and health issues in our well-equipped, air-conditioned Empire Life Health and Wellness Studio. A certi�ed personal trainer is always available for you to help develop a regimen based on your unique health needs. When you register, you select which days and time you will attend. Self-management and group support are the backbone of this program.

Cardiac Maintenance ProgramThe Y’Hearts program was developed in partnership with Hotel Dieu Hospital and has been successfully operating for 18 years. It is not just for graduates of Hotel Dieu Cardiac Rehab; anyone with a heart condition or interested in prevention is welcome.

Chronic Conditions & Chronic Pain Self-ManagementDeveloped in conjunction with the health care community chronic pain program, this program has been successfully running for 14 years. Conditions helped include �bromyalgia, arthritis, osteoarthritis, knee/hip replacement, obesity and others.

Healthy Lungs COPD ProgramYMCA Healthy Lungs Program was developed in partnership with Providence Care’s Respiratory Rehabilitation Clinic to deliver a monitored, after-care exercise and wellness program for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) community members.

Cancer Care Exercise ProgramThis program was developed in partnership with Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario. The YMCA is committed to assisting those living with cancer in our community. A physician’s referral form may be required for this program.

Registered ProgramsIf your child misses 2 consecutive classes and the YMCA is not noti�ed in advance, your child’s space may become available for the next child waitlisted for that space. This includes both youth recreation programs and aquatic lessons.

Camp, Program & Course RefundsA Cancellation Request must be completed and received no later than 3 business days (72 hours) in advance of the course, program or camp start date to receive a refund of the remaining fees after the cancellation fee is assessed. There is a $15.00 cancellation fee for each course, program, and camp. Refunds will not be provided for a Cancellation Request received less than 3 business days (72 hours) in advance OR once such course, program, or camp has commenced.

Extended Licensed Child Care RefundsA minimum of 2 weeks notice must be given in writing to either the SAC supervisor or the Team Lead in charge. Additional information can be found in the Parent Handbook for Licensed Child Care on our website.

Membership CancellationPre-Authorized Continuous MembershipTo cancel a Pre-Authorized Continuous Membership we require a Membership Cancellation Request form to be submitted, in writing, prior to the �rst (1st) of month in which you wish to cancel the payment.

Paid In Full MembershipTo cancel a Paid in Full Membership we require a Membership Cancellation Request form to be submitted. When a paid in full membership is cancelled, a refund is issued based upon the time remaining until the expiry date.

Child ProtectionThe YMCA is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all who use our facility. For this reason, all children under the age of 10 must be with a parent or guardian who is at least 16 years of age. All guests entering our facility to participate, pick up or spectate, must show ID.
