One thing that will strike you as you read the Bible is how often it talks about the importance
of our minds, of knowledge and of seeking wisdom.
God is a thinking, reasoning, rational God, and we
share that trait as people who bear His image. Ideas
matter. What we think about shapes what we
believe, and what we believe will ultimately
shape who we become.
Genuine transformation can only happen at
the heart level, but our minds are the gateway to our hearts.
This is why we are invited throughout the Bible to “set our minds on things above” (Col. 3:2).
The truth matters. The truth is what sets people free. There’s a reason that Satan is first and
foremost a great Liar.
LifeShaping at FCC is our opportunity to train our minds, and therefore our hearts, in the
Truth—across the entire spectrum of Christian maturity and across every life stage and need.
This happens through classroom discussion and interaction with our peers, personal study
during the week, and equipping one another to care for each other in community. It is not
simply a transfer of information. We teach to transform hearts through study. Our goal is to
be shaping our lives to look more like Jesus.
Please consider joining us in one of the many opportunities that we have available. Join us
as we pursue Christ-likeness together.
“But that is not the way you learned Christ! – assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.” Ephesians 4:20-24

Tim PrincePastor for Missional Community
Welcome to LifeShaping! Our goal in this more structured discipleship environment is equip Faith Community Church to grow as disciples and to disciple others outside of the classroom.
Our primary classes run on Sunday mornings at 9 and 11 am, but at times we will seek to extend our training to other days and locations in order to help equip our community.
If you are new to LifeShaping, we hope that this guide is helpful for you. If you are a seasoned participant, we hope that this serves you as an encouragement that we are pursuing Jesus Christ and His Kingdom Mission.
Tim Prince is leading our efforts to enhance FCC’s Sunday education hour as a place for both growth and training that reaches every age spectrum. FCC desires for this structured learning to help us love Jesus better, and help empower us to go out into our community with the love of Christ.

Mentor ing & DiscipleshipFEB 21, 28 & MAR 6
The mission of our church is to make more and better disciples of Jesus Christ. We do this in a number of ways, but one of the most potent resources that any church could offer to its people is the opportunity to be mentored in the context of a relationship with another believer. This three-week crash course is an introduction to how discipleship and mentoring can happen in our context today. We’ll look at scripture together and hear from some couples and individuals who mentor younger believers at Faith Community Church today.

WINTER/SPRING - STARTS JAN 10 | 11TH & 12TH GRADERS
The Apologetics Course is designed to equip the church to “give a reason for the hope” within us with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15). Questions that students will be invited to wrestle with are the relationship between science and faith, the existence of God, human sexuality, the nature of truth, evil and suffering and the trustworthiness of the Bible. Our special burden with this course is to create a context for high school Juniors and Seniors to wrestle with these questions before they graduate.

THE GOD WHO SENDS
WINTER/SPRING - STARTS JAN 10 | 9TH & 10TH GRADERS
Who are we? What is the church? In the New Testament, we see that we are not simply individuals, but we are the body of Christ, God’s temple, united in truth and given the mission of making disciples. In The God Who Sends, students will learn that as the church of Jesus, we are a people on a mission.

The ABC’s of Go d1st Using the alphabet as a framework for teaching the attributes of God, this study explores the delight that God has in Himself as the source, means and purpose of all things.
Fa ithful to Al l His Promises2nd God’s promises are gifts to the believer. The challenge of the Christian life is not to simply know the promises of God, but to place unshakable confidence in them. This study teaches children that God’s character is trustworthy; therefore, His promises are true and reliable.
To Be L ike Jesus4&5thWhat is salvation? How does someone become a Christian? What does it mean to become like Jesus? This curriculum helps children answer these questions as we explain the purpose and promise of the Gospel message and the doctrine of sanctification—the process of becoming conformed to the likeness of Jesus.
All children ages K-5 begin each week with children’s worship time: singing songs, focusing on a message and praying together. Students then move into their classrooms where they focus on the “Desiring God” curriculum developed for their specific age group.
