Greeley, CO ~ Training Series Underwater InvestigatorUnderwater Investigator prepares public safety dive teams to perform investigations involving weapon recovery, body recovery, vehicle and aircraft recovery, and scuba fatalities. Upon completion of this course, you will be able to effectively investigate the underwater crime scene and report to authorities and supporting agencies in a credible and professional manner. The textbook for this course is "The Encyclopedia of Underwater Investigations" by Corporal Robert G. Teather.Prerequisites: All candidates must be a member of a public safety agency, at least 18 years of age.

Interspiro TechnicianThe technicians who complete this training program will be certified by Interspiro to perform annual service and field maintenance on their Divator MKII full face masks. With this training, your department could not only save on the cost of repairs but also reduce the amount of downtime for your mask.Prerequisites: All students must be 18 years of age.Be Sure to Bring: Interspiro MKII Mask, 1st stage regulator (and tank if possible)

Dry Suit RepairStudents in this class will discuss how to maintain and repair minor tears, punctures, and holes in vulcanized rubber and trilaminate dry suits. There will be a demonstration of wrist ring, cuff seal, neck seal, and hood installation. Leak testing procedures will also be addressed. Glue and patch materials will be provided for training use during the class. Prerequisites: All students must be 18 years of age.Be Sure to Bring: Students are encouraged to bring their own dry suits to class for repair and testing. Each student should bring a Dremel-type moto tool with a Dremel # 952 tapered grinding stone.

Ice RescueThe Ice Rescue program prepares first responders from all public safety disciplines how to respond and carry out surface ice rescues. This class introduces students to the topics of ice hazards and formation, equipment selection, medical considerations, and the application of proven rescue methods and techniques. Successful completion of this program is measured in class participation, passing a final written exam and completing surface and in-water skills. Prerequisites: All candidates must be a member of a public safety agency, at least 18 years of age.Be Sure to Bring: All students will need a U.S. Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD) with a knife and whistle, adequate clothing for working outside, and pen and paper for taking notes. If the student has access to a cold water rescue suit or dry suit, they should bring it to class. It is advised that students bring a dry set of clothing.

Greeley, CO ~ Training Series Ice Rescue TrainerThe Ice Rescue Trainer Program is uniquely designed for public safety personnel. This course presents ice rescue training in a practical and efficient system, giving trainers the tools to build a competent and safe team. Successful Ice Rescue Trainer graduates will return to their departments with a complete training system. With the purchase of student kits from Dive Rescue International, trainers will be able to conduct in-house ice rescue training for departmental personnel. This is a surface rescue program and does not involve diving.Prerequisites: Students must be a member of a public safety agency and at least 21 years of age, current First Aid and CPR training and must provide a departmental sponsorship letter. This program is designed for personnel who are physically fit. Participants are encouraged to participate after successfully completing the IADRS Watermanship Test or testing to a fitness level of 13 MET (Metabolic Equivalents) or greater. Participants with aerobic fitness questions or concerns should consult their physician prior to in-water training. This program requires a completed application.Be Sure to Bring: All students will need a U.S. Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD) with a knife and whistle, adequate clothing for working outside, and pen and paper for taking notes. If the student has access to a cold water rescue suit or dry suit, they should bring it to class. It is advised that students bring a dry set of clothing.

Public Safety Diver SurvivalPrepare to survive your next life-threatening diving situation by inoculating yourself against panic and stress. This program is designed to improve and elicit automatic responses in survival situations. This program will also cover the various stages of stress and the factors leading to panic. Participants will learn techniques to minimize the negative effects of emotional and psychological stress based on research of public safety scuba injuries and deaths over several decades.Prerequisites: All students must be a member of a public safety agency and at least 18 years of age. Students must also read and complete a RSTC medical statement prior to attending class. Any diver answering yes to any contraindication must have the form signed by a physician. All diving personnel must provide proof of Dive Rescue I certification. Be Sure to Bring: Students are advised to configure their SCUBA equipment with a conventional mask and snorkel. The use of a Dry Suit, Full Face Mask and Pony Bottle during the PSD Survival program will need prior consult with DRI and the Lead PSDS Instructor.

Ice Diving OperationsParticipants will be able to plan and execute an emergency ice diving operation; select, evaluate and perform field maintenance on ice diving equipment; and dive safely under ice in order to complete a rescue/recovery mission. Participants will also be introduced to diving with full face masks.Prerequisites: All students must be a member of a public safety agency and at least 18 years of age. Students must read and complete a RSTC medical statement prior to attending class. Any diver answering yes to any contraindication must have the form signed by a physician. Be sure to Bring US Coast Guard approved PFD with knife and whistle, adequate clothing and protection from the environment and pen and paper for note-taking and sketching. Diving students must provide their own equipment: Scuba regulator: recently serviced and environmentally protected with alternate air source (i.e.: octopus, Air II, etc.), timing device, depth and submersible pressure gauges, BC with oral/power inflator, two tanks with current Hydro & VIP, mask, snorkel, fins, weight belt and two cutting tools (knife, wire cutters, or trauma shears.)

Ice rescue and diving programs are designed for personnel who are physically fit. Participants are encouraged to participate after successfully completing the IADRS Watermanship Test or testing to a fitness level of 13 MET (Metabolic Equivalents) or greater. Participants with aerobic fitness questions or concerns should consult their physician prior to in-water training. Participants who have poor aerobic fitness may attend this program as surface support personnel with the approval of the instructor.
