THE GENTLE SIDE OF WINTER

It came slowly and spread its white cloak over the Alpine peaks. Winter has

arrived and invites us to enjoy nature with all our senses. The first snow’s

sparkling crystals crunch under snowshoes and winter boots. As your muscles

warm up, they look forward to striding along the snow tracks. The summit

glitters and your lungs fill with the freshness of the winter mountains. The

cross-country ski runs are glorious – and a tonic for the heart and circulation.

Skis: this is their high season, and for many fans this is

why winter exists! The sunny plateau’s snow is superb

during the first weeks of the year, and the slopes are in

perfect condition. Powder in abundance not only makes

Alpine skiers’ hearts leap for joy, it also stirs the blood of

winter walkers, tobogganists and ski mountaineers!

SNOW RAPTURE AND CULINARY DELIGHTS

In Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis, only the Schlosshotel Fiss offers

direct access from the slopes to your culinary high. As

it’s the only hotel on the piste, skiing here is a particular

pleasure – and the pleasures resume with each meal.

Head Chef Christoph Geschwendtner’s culinary

treasures harmonise perfectly with the 500 bins of fine

wine that are kept in the Schlosshotel’s wine cellar. You

can always rely on the recommendations of Restaurant

Manager and Sommelier Christian Heinisch, although

sometimes the winemakers themselves are on hand to

offer advice. January sees the

wine presentations and tastings during

which the Schlosshotel’s house vintners are at the

forefront.

FROM POOL TO PISTE

The Schloss Spa, Family Spa, Splash and Aqua Monte

offer warming retreats after a sparkling day in the fresh

winter air – as well as being a starting point for the purest

of skiing pleasures. This is because the Schlosshotel

offers direct access to the fabulous pistes of Tyrol’s Ski

Dimension, which are particularly lovely in January and

February. At this time of year, you can weave through

perfectly groomed snow, enjoy wonderfully broad slopes,

winter sunshine and glistening powder on the freeride

slopes – while being almost entirely alone.

littered with brightly coloured Easter eggs. What’s going on in the Ski Dimension and on the Schlosshotel Fiss’ doorstep?

THE SKI BUNNIES ARE OUT!

Fiss’ winter world is turned upside down from 24 March

to 7 April 2018. The slopes are still resplendent in their

best winter attire, and the snowy peaks glisten in the

spring sunshine. But here and there, there are bursts of

colour. Crocuses and snowdrops fight for a place in the

sun as their colours compete with the Easter eggs.

COLOURFUL DELIGHT FOR YOUNG AND OLD

Easter Sunday is the culmination of the Schlosshotel Fiss’

Easter festivities. The children make Easter nests before

setting off on an egg hunt. The subsequent Easter brunch

is a feast of springtime delicacies – including the region’s

traditional Easter ham!
