HOLA Winter Internship Opportunities

Hundreds of lives get impacted every day because of the support of our volunteers. HOLA interns/volunteers are vital to helping us provide our youth with a life full of positive development and new opportunities.

Interns are needed to provide vital assistance in HOLA’s Development and Communications Departments. Interns should be able to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week.

Development Intern

As a Development Intern, you will be involved in a wide variety of projects, including:• Conducting foundation and corporate giving research• Assisting in event planning• Executing a variety of administrative tasks in a timely fashion (including filing, updating

records and donation/check history files).• Editing, drafting letters mailings• Drafting correspondence to donors as directed• Other duties as assigned.• Update and maintain a information database.

Qualifications:• Undergraduate degree in progress or completed. Masters level preferred. • Must be detail oriented and flexible• Solid written and verbal communication skills• Ability to work independently and as part of team with a diverse range of people.• Strong computer skills (especially with Excel and Word)• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure with flexibility and good

humor.• Knowledge of nonprofits, event management, public relations is preferred but not

expected.

Volunteer Program Intern

As a Volunteer Program Intern, you will be involved in a wide variety of projects, including:• Assist in the recruiting, scheduling, and placing of infrastructural volunteers for HOLA

programs.• Update and maintain volunteer information database.• Assist in managing volunteer application process and procedures through database entry

and Google Documents.• Administer participation sign-ups and follow up correspondence for volunteer programs.

• Assist in developing and conducting HOLA’s orientation, training and recruitment of volunteer program

• Assist with planning of events and coordinate volunteer scheduling for events.• Assist with facilitation of large-scale volunteer opportunities with organizations,

corporations and individuals.• Track and report volunteer hours.• Assist with development and infrastructure of HOLA’s Internship Program. • May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:• Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a

wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.• Ability to be a strong role model for youth during all working hours.• Undergraduate degree in progress or completed. Scholarship Program Intern

Interns will provide the following services to our high school juniors and seniors:• Academic Advising for A-G course completion• College Counseling (admissions requirements, college search, etc)• Career and college major exploration• Assist in completing college admission applications• Assist in completing financial aid applications (i.e. FAFSA and scholarships)• Assist College Counselor in compiling and cataloguing resources• Assist in setting up admission representative visits and college campus tours

College Counseling Intern

• Assist with updating and maintaing HOLA’s retention database (inputting student information, grade reports, and financial aid packages)

• Assist with finding trends and retention statistics amongst HOLA’s current college students

• Assist in analyzing student financial aid packages• Help Alumni Director with retention strategies for current college students• Assist in finding scholarship opportunities and internship opportunities for undergraduate

and graduate students • Help acquire accurate and up-to-date information for AB540 students on acquiring

financial aid for the 2013-2014 school year.

Qualifications:• Availability on Tuesdays, Wednesday, and/or Thursday evenings from 4-8pm • Possess a passion to work with a diverse population to build a college going culture in

low-income communities• Bilingual in Spanish or Korean is preferred but not required.
