President's Message I cannot believe it has been a year! I sat down to write this message and felt bombarded by fan-tastic AES memories: the Annual Meeting in iconic Atlanta so cold the first day, SciX in beauti-ful Reno with a 34° rainy bicycle ride around Lake Tahoe, and DEP 2014 in historic London during a heat wave. Our monthly teleconference Board meetings stand out too, scrambling to hit important deadlines with amazing volunteers; energetic, thoughtful, and committed. Board member interactions have resulted in charters for various committees, and establishment of goals, metrics, and milestones, setting us on a solid foundation for years to come.

Our Society is in excellent shape. Financially, income exceeds expenditures enough to consider-ing establishing an endowment. Our membership and meeting attendance remain consistent, as does web page traffic. A special thanks to Cullen Buie and Rodrigo Martinez-Duarte, Program Co-Chairs for the 2014 Annual Meeting that saw our esteemed colleague Professor Righetti give a fascinating presentation. The FACSS organization supported our program at SciX, where Ed Goluch and Alexandra Ros organized an excellent program including a meeting-wide plenary session. A new slogan was created: “Advancing Electrokinetic Science.” Our website will be updated Q2 2015. Innovative leaders are in place for the 2015 (Nathan Swami and Michael Py-craft Hughes) and the 2016 (Fatima Labeed and Lisa Flanagan) Annual Meeting Programs.

Our former Councilor and current liaison with FACSS, Professor Alexandra Ros, was chosen as Program Chair for the entire SciX 2016 meeting. AES has officially signed on as host for ITP 2016 at SciX! This will be a great event to build bridges to this well-established group of re-searchers originally from Eastern Europe – especially with Alexandra at the helm.
