SSNOWMASS CHAPEL WORSHIP SERVICESnowmass Chapel offers a non-denominational, Christian service every Sunday morning at 9:00am with Sunday School for Pre-K through 7th grade. Teen Church is the first Sunday of every month. Parents may relax with little ones in the Creekside Room where there is a live stream of the service. Infants and toddlers may also play in the attended nursery during worship. Christmas Eve services at Snowmass Chapel are at 5, 7 and 9 PM. On-Mountain Worship service is offered every Sunday at noon beginning January 5, 2014 outside Gwyn’s High Alpine restaurant on Snowmass Mountain. This is a short, 15 minute outdoor service. CHALLENGE ASPENChallenge Aspen provides year-round adaptive cultural, educational and recreational experiences for anyone with a physical or cognitive disability. RICARD BRASSERIE AND BIA HOI RESTURANTS OPEN IN SNOWMASS Executive Chef Tim Goodell opened two new restaurants simultaneously at Base Village in Snowmass, the Ricard Brasserie and Liquor Bar, as well as Bia Hoi Southeast Asian Street Food. These are the first restaurants in Colorado for Goodell, who is a Food & Wine “Best New Chef” and currently operates Public Kitchen & Bar in The Hollywood Roosevelt hotel, as well as owns and operates 25 Degrees with locations in Hollywood, Huntington Beach, Chicago, and Bangkok. Ricard Brasserie & Liquor Bar will serve French fare in a warm, inviting setting. The menu consists of classic brasserie dishes such as Prime Steak Tartare, Oysters, House-made Charcuterie, Coq au Vin, Tuna Crudo, and Chicken Liver Terrine, and all baked goods will be prepared on-site daily. Ricard serves an extensive wine and beer list, as well as classic and signature cocktails.

The 2,800-square-foot Bia Hoi is a casual dining concept serving Southeast Asian fare in a contemporary industrial setting. Iron and reclaimed wood tables encourage communal dining, while the boisterous ambiance emphasizes the restaurant’s “beer hall” theme. The menu is inspired by Asian cuisine and utilizes products from local Colorado markets, distillers, and brewers.

DELTA AIRLINES NOW SERVICING ASPEN/SNOWMASS Delta Air Lines added a new nonstop seasonal service to Aspen/Snowmass with daily flights from Atlanta and Saturday-only flights from Minneapolis-St. Paul, effective December 21, 2013. With its new service, Delta is the only airline to offer daily nonstop service to Aspen/Snowmass from the southeastern U.S. Combined with service from Minneapolis-St. Paul, the flights will provide connecting opportunities through two of the world’s largest hubs. The direct flights to Atlanta, one of the world’s busiest airports, give travelers in the southern U.S., the East Coast and Latin America more options for flying to Aspen/Snowmass.

NEW BOWLING ALLEY BOUTIQUE OPENS IN SNOWMASS Looking for something for the family to do after a day on the slopes? Try your hand at some slopeside bowling at Snowmass’s new bowling alley, Slopeside Lanes located below Venga Venga Cantina at the end of the Snowmass Mall. YIn October 2010, a bulldozer operator working near Snowmass Village uncovered the tusk of a young female mammoth. Over the next 10 months, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science conducted fossil excavation, yielding a treasure trove of well preserved Ice Age fossils. Museum crews uncovered 5400 bones of Ice Age animals, including mammoth, mastodon, giant ground sloth, camel, deer, horse, giant bison, as well as plant life, insects, and fossils of smaller animals including:

SNOWMASS ICE AGE DISCOVERY CENTERTouch a mastodon tooth. Wonder at a half-sized 6-foot Wooden Mammoth Skeleton. Read Ice Age books in the children’s library. See video from Denver Museum of Nature & Science and learn the story of the Snowmass Ice Age discovery through creative displays, educational panels and interactive programming.
