THE TWO SIDES OF MAGIC

M uch is being said and being w ritten about white magic and black magic, about the righ t-hand path and about the left-hand path. W hatever your opinions on this subject are, you will have to adm it tha t the two overlap to quite an extent. Only at the extremes are the lines drawn very clearly.

L et us consider first the pure and totally incorruptible w hite magician. This person will obey the rule do not harm anybody. I f that is taken to its extreme then he will never fight back, never retaliate, never seek revenge or justice. He will be at the mercy of everybody, always offer the other cheek, be meek and submissive. I f everybody was like tha t then there would be no problem ; this world would be a nice place to live in. U nfortunately reality is different, and if you wish to live like that then you will never possess anything because others will forever take it away. It is often said that during the M iddle Ages the barons lived by one single rule: W hats m ine is m ine and w hats yours is m ine too if I am strong enough to take it. Not much has changed since.

At the other end we find the extreme black magician. This is a person who has only two interests in life: power and himself. W hatever he wants he gets, using all possible m eans. H e does not care about anybody else, he has no conscience, he just furthers his own interests. I f that means harm ing others then so be it. M aterial possessions play a big role in his life. He will not hesitate to place strong curses on all those who thw art him . At times it is sufficient to disagree w ith such a person to suffer this fate. I f you care to look around you then you m ight th ink that many so-called businessm en are black sorcerers or behave as such. You are right! They do no t care about the m isery they inflict, about the dishonest deals they make, about the worthless junk they sell; all they care about is the money they g e t . You find people who behave like that socially: if they see a woman they like then they will use all possible means to get her. Once their desire has been satisfied they drop her. If in the process they have destroyed a m arriage, an engagem ent or any other relationship they do not care. They will sim ply pu t the blame onto the other person.

As a magician it is up to you to decide how far you wish to go in either direction. T he only th ing you should rem em ber is that you yourself are responsible for your own actions and th e ir consequences. Do no t blam e the w riters of grim oires (magical textbooks) or of other books; you yourself are m aking the choice!

W hils t we w ere w ritin g th is book we received m any com m ents, m ostly concerned w ith why we should not be w riting this. O ur reply was very simple: for over forty years we have been w hite m agicians and behaved like real fundam entalists. W here did it lead us? Nowhere! M ost of those we did things for, whom we taught, whom we helped, turned their backs on us. They had what they w anted and why should they care, or even rem ain sociable? U ntil recently we never

fought back and lived as harmless meek people to whom one could do anything. As our philosophy we stric tly followed the ru le harm nobody and could be considered to be nearly fundam entalistic. However, there comes a tim e when one reflects upon this. A periodical revision of the Kabbalah made us suddenly see the light: we also have the duty to look after ourselves. T ha t does no t mean tha t we have become ruthless black sorcerers. But now we help people by re tu rn ing curses, by seeking justice, and if the latter could be considered as revenge then so be it. We are very m uch at ease w ith our own conscience. W hy should we let other people get away w ith m urder? Now we fight back!

Just consider the C hristian creed, the one w hich states clearly and unequivocally that one m ust offer the other cheek. T hen look at w hat this church has been doing, and is still doing today, to further its own am bitions. These am bitions have very little to do w ith religion, they are more about power and m oney than about anything else. How many of the so-called C hristians live by the ir creed? H alf of one percent? N ot even that. One of these pillars of the church pu t it to us very clearly when he told us, It is said of me that in business I am cunning, crafty, unscrupulous, treacherous, foxy and untrustw orthy. M y reply to th is is that God gave me these capabilities to use. After all, business is business. I live my private life in a different m anner. T h is very devout person lives in a house about which ordinary people can only dream. He makes m ost of his money by driving other people in to bankruptcy and stripping the assets. H e has acquired m oney and power. You can draw your own conclusions from that.

We have no qualm s about giving you the means to defend yourself. Too m uch black magic is going on today and we feel that it is about tim e that people are given the means to defend themselves. If in the process they go too far and they become like that themselves then that is not our fault. Our conscience is clear.

Those who wish to com m ent on the rituals themselves should keep in m ind that these rituals are those practised on the continent. This explains why they differ very m uch from the B ritish tradition.

One final word: T his is not a book for the weak-hearted!We have not described blood-sacrifices, there is no killing and there are neither

debaucheries nor perversions. W hat will be found in th is book is sexual activity and very hard and ruthless intentions. But then , the title makes this very clear:

HOW TO EQUIP YOURSELF

Those who th ink that they will need a lot of paraphernalia are mistaken. You need just about what every magician needs. T he im plem ents which you will be using are very simple and you can carry these w ith you in a small bag.

W hat you need can be purchased; there is no need to m ake everything yourself. Do no t th ink th a t everything has to be black; that again is a widespread belief w hich is totally m istaken. Some paraphernalia have to be black, bu t if that is the case then we m ention this clearly and unam biguously. We clearly distinguish between tools and what we call consumables. The la tter are used up and need replacing from tim e to time.

TOOLSIN CEN SE BURNERYou will be using incense which is burned on charcoal, not sticks. There are a variety of incense burners available on the market. Choose what you wish. M ost o f these are in brass and can be found in Indian shops or New-Age shops. Some so-called ethnic shops supply these too. They are not difficult to find.

RECEPTACLESYou will need a receptacle for water and one for salt. Some use chalices for that, o thers use ordinary glasses, w ith or w ithout a stem. It does not m atter what they are or what they are made of. I f you wish to splash out then feel free to do so. There is an undisputed advantage in using nice things: it looks better and it seems that you will also be perform ing better, bu t we leave that up to you. W hat you will also need is a small bowl to collect ashes and a b it of water.

C A N D LESTIC K SYou will be using up to five candles. There is no need to buy expensive brass candlesticks. Even a bottle or a saucer will do. Again, th is is a m atter of choice.

CORDT his has to be black. F irst of all you need a piece of cord which fits around your loins and is fastened w ith a knot. You will also need three pieces which are about five feet in length. We found that ordinary curtain cords suit the purpose very well. You will have to tie a knot at the ends to stop them from fraying. A lternatively you can roll some sticky tape around the ends. Do not attem pt to splice the ends: silk will not hold.

K N IFEYou need one knife w ith a black handle. I f you do not find it then pain t the handle black yourself. Those who have plenty of m oney can purchase a Scottish Skeean D hu (black knife) w hich is what a Scotsman will wear in his hose. They come in all varieties and prices and are beautifully finished with silver and a gem stone. T he choice is yours.

M AGIC SYMBOLSD uring some rituals you will need to draw some magical symbols. You should always have a model in front of you, so that you make no mistakes. These magical symbols should be drawn in black, on white paper. Some purists insist that they are drawn on parchm ent or vellum, bu t that is not necessary; it is a relic from the M iddle Ages. W hat these symbols represent is explained later. For the tim e being just make sure tha t you have paper and ink available. As you will be using some of these symbols frequently we suggest that you choose a strong paper.

CONSUMABLESCANDLEST he only candles w hich you will use are black. Some shops of household materials sell these in boxes and they are cheap. I f you wish to buy expensive hand-m ade ones then that is your choice.

CHARCOALThis is used to burn incense. Buy the self-igniting tablets, they only take one match to light. It is useful to have a pair of pliers handy to hold the tablets w hilst you are lighting them, otherwise you often burn your fingers.

INCENSESThe incenses used in this type of magic are not commercially available. M ost can easily be made from ordinary plants and household herbs. Never forget that in the days of old there were no im ports of exotic m aterials and people made do with what they had available. In this form of magic things are still the same, bu t it is not difficult to find w hat you need and it is also easy to make your owrn incenses. All you can buy com m ercially is frankincense and m yrrh. There is a chapter on incenses further on.

SALTT he com m ercially available salt as used in the kitchen or at the table is not suitable It contains other chemicals, the so-called anti-caking ingredients, to stop it from form ing lum ps in hum id conditions. W hat you need is pure natural salt. Any health shop sells this kind of thing. If you have a choice then opt for sea-salt. Keep it separate and do not use it for anything else.

W ATERExperience has shown that in m any cases ordinary tap water does not work. You should obtain some pure spring water. T his is not difficult because you can find this in any store and superm arket. Keep it separate and do not use it for anything else.

PENS A N D IN KIn this type of magic you should never use anything bu t pens and proper ink. There is a British tradition that these inks should be m ade from plant material. Consequently they are sold, at a price, by some suppliers. There is no need for that. Any ink will do and if you do not have any then use food colouring. You need black, red, green and blue. You will never use anything bu t white paper.

Before you use any of the im plem ents and consumables they m ust be consecrated Consecrated im plem ents are stored in a safe place, out o f reach, because they can only be used by you yourself. D uring the consecration you have placed a curse on anybody who touches your tools w ithout your perm ission, and this curse will work. I f you work w ith someone else then make it clear that this person is allowed to use your tools and say so explicitly. Keep everything together in one box or case. I t makes it easier to find everything before you start a ritual.

MAGICAL SYMBOLS

D uring the rituals you will use magical symbols. At times they are burned, buried or destroyed in some other way. Sometimes they are sent away. You should be able to draw these when you need them. In order to do so properly and w ithout m aking m istakes we suggest that you prepare a model for each. You can then take this m odel w ith you in the circle and work from that. You will be using three types of figures. A brief description is given w ith each.

THE SEALS

You will use several seals during your rituals. Explaining their origin and m eaning would lead us m uch too far. Some seals will protect you, other seals will attack other people. Some seals, when used properly, can be le thal! Those who are interested in the origin of the seals and who wish to find more inform ation are referred to the vast literature on the subject.

Just like the demons described below, these are not things w hich you execute nicely and then frame to hang on the wall. You may get more than you bargain for!

Symbols of power are used during rituals to raise power. N obody can explain how they work, bu t their presence gives the ritual extra power and makes it more effective. They are used in various rituals for the purpose indicated underneath each symbol.

STATEMENTS AND INVOCATIONSApart from the invocations proper there are also statem ents of power, of in tention and of faith. All three statem ents form an integral part of each ritual, so it is useful to copy them all on the same sheet of paper.

D uring a ritual you will invoke some entities. These can be forces, demons, etc. Some people m ight call these invocations prayers, although tha t is not entirely correct. T he invocations vary from ritual to r i tu a l . W hich one to use is made clear in the description of each ritual.

There are also some proper prayers to the dark forces. These too vary from ritual to ritual and they are used as indicated in the descriptions of the rituals.

INCENSES

The incenses used in this type of magic do not smell particularly nice. Those who wish to improve the smell can add 1 part frankincense or m yrrh. Do N O T use any other resinous incense. The in tention of the incense is to contribu te to the frame of m ind of the person perform ing the ritual. Recent scientific research has made discoveries which substantiate this point; incenses and other smells influence the w orking of the brain. There are only four incenses involved. All the ingredients are easily available. All you have to do is look for them , because the plants you need can be found anywhere. The recipes are as follows:

M ethod of preparation: D ry all ingredients thoroughly, then g rind together to a fine powder. An electric coffee-grinder will work perfectly.

DRESS

Purists will say tha t in this type of magic there is no choice of dress. You are naked. All you wear is a black cord around your loins, tied w ith a reef-knot. If you are perform ing the ritual outside then you can also wear a pair of sandals, nothing else. If w eather is inclem ent then you either suffer it or you await more favourable circum stances. If you do not want to do this then wear a robe, preferably black.

The most im portan t reason for being undressed is to be able to feel united with the elements. You stand or sit on the earth, you are surrounded by the air, the w arm th of the fire (sun, m oon or candle) can reach you and you can make direct contact w ith water if you wish to do so. There are o ther reasons too. Am ongst the many, one is w orth m entioning: the underlying process of revolt, grown during m any centuries of suppression, against the edicts o f the trad itional W estern churches who declared anything which had any connection w ith the body or with sex to be sinful and forbade it.

T he cord w hich you wear around your loins symbolizes your link w ith the universe. It also symbolizes your own personal link w ith the forces which you will call upon and which you will use. No real magician will ever perform a ritual w ithout such a cord. Before you dress for a ritual you m ust clean yourself. Have a bath or have a shower. I f you perform w ith someone else then you have a bath together. If that creates some form of sexual arousal, so m uch the better, because when you perform rituals with partners they should always end w ith some form of sexual activity. T hat again is part and parcel of this k ind of magic. T his time, however, the reasons should not be laid squarely at the door of the various churches. The origin of this custom goes back thousands of years, righ t back to the old fertility rites.

We m entioned that each ritual perform ed with a partner m ust end w ith some form of sexual activity. T his can take any form you like. At tim es it is necessary to follow certain rules. T here are rituals where it is necessary to achieve an orgasm, w hether you are alone or w ith a partner. In some instances, and th is will be pointed out clearly, it is necessary to achieve this outside penetration. If that is the case then you m ust in te rru p t at the rig h t m om ent. E xperienced m agicians have practised a form of sexual intercourse where they achieve full penetration and keep this up, w ithout moving, for as long as possible. The am ount of energy thus raised is enorm ous. T hey will, if necessary, in te rrup t at the last m om ent. The only thing to rem em ber is that you are dealing with a form of magic which is not k ind and gentle. Your sexual activity should reflect that. This does not m ean that one must inflict pain. Use your own im agination and if you find that difficult then start by no t using too nice a language. It is of the utm ost im portance that you learn to draw this circle properly. I f you do not wish to do so then you can pain t it on a cloth or on any other suitable m aterial. T he letters a to e are the segments where certain words (the words of power) have to be written. They should be w ritten as if from the centre o f the circle, so that they can be read easily by someone standing in the m iddle, by the simple expedient of tu rn ing around. Be precise in this, otherwise your magic will only partly work, not work at all or even turn against you. These are the words to be w ritten:

Before you do any th ing else you m ust gather everything you need. All your im plem ents should be in one place. N oth ing is more infuriating than having to find out who borrowed a candlestick and who placed the incense burner on his m antelpiece. You m ust rem em ber tha t you placed a curse on these im plem ents and that those who use them will suffer.

PREPARATIONS

I f you work with a partner then you can make all the preparations together. Beforeyou start you take both hands of your partner in yours and say:

Now, and only now, do you put your cord around your loins. I f you work with a partner then you should do this for each other. It is custom ary to stroke your partner w hilst you are doing so.

You can now start the ritual proper.

The only th ing you have to learn is to cast a pentagram . You will always cast the same pentagram , the inverted one. Start at 1 and continue through 2, 3, 4 and 5 back to 1. T hen, w ithout in terrup ting , cast the circle from 1 to 6 in an an ticlockwise direction. You should practise this because you will need to do this many times. These pentagram s are cast standing up and with the righ t hand.

You m ust also learn to do the same w ith the thum b of your righ t hand. This m ethod is used for small objects w hich you hold in the left hand or which are lying in front of you. T h in k of the way a priest makes a small cross w ith his thum b over some object and you will get the idea.

All further details are m entioned on each and every ritual sheet. Follow the in instructions, be precise in wording and in action and you will perform a perfect ritual. If you slip up, albeit only once, then you should not expect any results.

Every ritual starts with the Invocation of the Elem ental Powers. Every tim e one of the Powers is invoked the candle for that Power is lit. These candles are placed between the two circles, one to the South, one to the East, one to the N orth and one to the West.
