Sliding door

Note…

• With a sliding door, a covering can't be attached to the door, since it needs to be able to slide open. For this reason one would want to wall mount your blinds or shadings so that they will hang in front of your sliding door.

• But with a hinged door, then the option of attaching directly onto the door is available. This is convenient because you will be able to open and close the door without opening the blind or shade first. However, after a blind or shade is attached the door may not open quite as wide as it did before. If this is a concern, one may consider a wall mounted item as for a sliding door.

Vertical blinds

• Vertical blinds are without doubt the most popular type of blind. They are cost effective and hugely versatile due to the ability to angle the slats, as well as opening and closing the blind.

• The key advantage of applying vertical blinds to french and patio doors is the ease of operation of the blinds; as the slats are made from fabric, even when the drop is extremely long, they are still light in weight.

• This means that there is a relatively small amount of effort required to actually pull the blinds open and closed.

Wooden binds for French doors

•  These require a different kind of installation to vertical blinds when it comes to French doors. Whereas verticals are installed to either the inside or outside recess and cover the whole of the window, wooden blinds are installed onto the doors themselves.

If they were fitted to cover the whole of the window it would simply be too heavy to lift up and down. Installing them onto the doors resolves this problem effectively; the glass panels are completely covered so privacy is not compromised whilst they are small and light enough to lift up and down easily.

Plantation shutters

Cellular vertical shades
