We are pleased to report some progress fromSouth Western Railways on the passengerinformation display. They still aren’t working -but at least we now know the signs have power- as shown by the illuminated sign in the photo.
In the Autumn they told Paul Fishwick that theyneeded to dig up the platform to find the power
cables - butwe knew thatwasn’t theproblem!
Traffic calming and a30mph speed limit for OldForest Road are on thecards for Spring 2019 ifsupported by residents.The Borough Council haveconsulted on proposals inthe past few weeks.
Lib Dem councillors fromWinnersh and Emmbrooksupport moves to reducespeeds in the road. It iscurrently a main route outof Emmbrook until thenew North Wokingham
distributor road is completed,which is due in 2021.

M4 Smart Motorway newsNow that the vegetationhas been cut down,people living near the M4are unfortunatelyexposed to more noiseand pollution from themotorway.The existing noise barrierwill also be removed but we don’t yet have a date forthat. Improved noise barriers will be put in towardsthe end of the works, expected to finish in 2022. Wokingham Lib Demcouncillors have beenfighting to keep localschool crossingpatrols. CouncillorPrue Bray says, “TheConservatives havechosen to replace ourmuch loved schoolcrossing patrols withunmanned crossings.
“Unmanned crossingscan’t look after thesafety of children whoare crossing the road,move on cars whichare parked too close to
the crossing or reportsuspicious behaviourin the area.
“The change won’t
even save the taxpayermoney, because it’sexpensive to installand maintain anunmanned crossing.”
