Message from President Jim Andrews6/10/2019

Treasurer’s/ Membership Report. Our membership has increased in the past couple of months, this is good news for the club. It is everyone’s responsibility as members of LHMAC to encourage persons to join our club as well as welcoming and helping new members. Hopefully, by July, the plaque acknowledging our donors for the GeoTech will be ready.Thank You! Rene

Thank you to everyone who set up and displayed their planes at theWestmoreland County Airshow. Interacting with the public allows us to get our message out and attract new members. Special thanks to Steve Mickel for his efforts in getting R/C flying back to the Airshow. Hopefully, we can build on this for the future. Thanks also to everyone that helped to make the Opening Day Family picnic a success. From the field cleanup workers to those who pitched in during the picnic with food setup and prep. Thanks to Rene and Lester for running the fun fly contest.

Be aware of new people who show up at our field, we should approach them and not wait for them to ask us about our wonderful hobby. These people could become new members. During the next few weeks you may see different markers appear on the field to help with lining up our landings. See which one seems to help the most and let any of the officers know. The best way though is to get out there and fly!See you at the field.Jim Andrews

From the AMA

Recently, as part of implementing the new law, all AMA flying sites will beregistered with the FAA to obtain a waiver to allow you to continue to fly at yourfield the same as you have been. This is very important and needs to be done ina timely manner. Club officers will be contacted by the AMA and will be workingon this.AMA is working very hard and has representatives in Washington, D.C., nearlyevery week working with multiple government departments to implement thenew law to preserve recreational flight. In late June 2019, the AMA ExecutiveCouncil, Government Affairs team, and supporters will walk Capitol Hill to meetwith many members of Congress and strengthen our legislative position. Many things are changing and being worked out right now. There's a lot ofconfusion not only among our community, but also with enforcement and evendivisions within the same government departments. If anyone is approached byofficials, please immediately contact AMA, and above all, be nice andcooperative and try to be helpful. Continue to fly by the AMA Safety Code as youalways have. The club has responded to this request by forwarding our info to the AMA who will theninteract with the FAA.Mark
