A new generation of wine analysis has arrived

An innovative solution for the analysis of wine using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy has been developed by Bruker with the help of experts in the field.

The principle of the method relies on the acquisition of the spectroscopic fingerprintspecific to each individual sample. These profiles are compared to a large database of authentic wine samples using a multivariate statistical approach. Wine Profiling by NMR combines quality control and testing of selected safety issues and authenticity in a unique way.

Features:

Easy, cost-effective, push-button NMR solution for comprehensive wine screening based on the FoodScreener platform Automatic generation of analysis reports Reliable screening method providing targeted and non-targeted analyses from a single measurement Quantification of 56 parameters Comparison of quantification values to official reference values and for all compounds to the concentration distribution of authentic samples, thus supporting interpretation of the results Prediction of authenticity parameters such as grape variety, geographical origin and vintage by means of classification analyses Non-targeted verification of sample conformity by comparison to authentic reference data by means of verification models

New features in release 3.0

Geographical origin verification for the major European wine-producing countries Regional origin verification for several relevant regions in France, Italy and Spain Extended classification analysis now covering 22 grape varieties Validation of European white wine vintage Rapid detection of water addition for selected grape varieties

Detailed information on the list of quantified parameters and statistical models can be found in the specification sheet for Wine Profiling.

Wine Profiling

Classification Analysis

Classification models determine if a wine is consistent with a group in the model (shown example: variety “Syrah” for an Italian red wine)

Non-target models compare the whole NMR-profile of a specific sample with one corresponding group of reference spectra

Non-Targeted Analysis / Verification
