Why Use Air Knives?
New Solutions to Packaging Challenges
North-American wine producers lead the world with innovative packaging of exceptional products. In most cases, the appearance of the finished product is determined by just one thing: the production equipment. Continual investment in manufacturing processes and equipment gives any producer an edge over the competition. When outstanding quality is combined with fantastic packaging, success is inevitable.
The Adamark Air Knife Drying System can be an integral part of this success. A dry product is always easier and cheaper to label and box and simply looks better on the shelf. Every Adamark system is custom designed on a per customer basis to meet your performance and budget requirements. Available as a bolt-on addition or as a turnkey conveyorized system, there is an Adamark solution for every bottling line, whether it runs at 40 or 250 BPM. The Adamark system’s continued success in the packaging industry has made it a factory-installed accessory for companies like Krones, Priority One, Descon and many others.
An air knife is a device that channels air through a uniform slot at high velocity (27,000 - 39,000 FPM).
Pressure is created by forcing more air into the knife than can exit through the slot. It is the relationship between the slot width, pressure and volume gen-erated by the blower that creates the key to a dry product: velocity. The high volume of a centrifugal blower allows the Adamark system to produce more velocity, and better drying, than com-pressed air alternatives.
Air Knives are used to remove water droplets and film from a filled container to ensure that:
Labels can be applied straight without wrinkles, bubbles, or water marks.Cases do not rot due to water being absorbed into the folding carton or corrugated box.Graphics on the boxes are not dam-aged from water rings.Sleeve labels slip easily over bottles and cans and can be shrunk without blow out marks.Bright cans do not rust.Glue costs remain minimal with no ‘glue pot’ water contamination.Ink -jet codes are legible and not erasable.

How Does it Work?
What is an Air Knife?
Beyond Air KnivesGrape Crushing
Becker oil-free vacuum pump technology is used in pneumatic membrane or bladder presses to quietly provide both suction and pressure to assist in crushing the grapes. Defranceschi, Vaslin Bucher, Skrlj, Puleo, Siprem and CEP all use Becker pumps with their equipment. R.E. Morrison is the largest independent Becker distributor in North America, providing sales, service, design and warranty support.
Vacuum Corking
Becker oil-free rotary vane vacuum pumps and high efficiency regenerative vacuum pumps are used to facilitate the vacuum corking process. The quiet, compact design makes retrofitting older fillers possible.
Vacuum Filling
As North American wineries grow with ever increasing line speeds, vacuum filling becomes necessary for line efficiency. Becker compact and supreme efficiency regenerative high flow vacuum pumps are available as both standard equipment and as an upgrade to old equipment. The benefits of upgrading to a Becker vacuum pump are clear: increased evacuation speeds and a dramatic noise reduction.
