Join us for an evening of celebration, wine and philanthropy! Welcome to the wine auction event of Silicon Valley benefiting the Silicon Valley Education Foundation, hosted in collaboration with the Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers Association. The Silicon Valley Wine Auction (SVWA) highlights Santa Cruz Mountains Vintners while engaging the community in support of education. The Silicon Valley Wine Auction includes a Grand Wine Tasting featuring over 40 vintners from the Santa Cruz Mountains paired with epicurean delights, as well as over 200 silent auction lots and culminates with a Wine Pairing Dinner featuring rare and exclusive wines from ‘notable’ vintners of the Santa Cruz Mountains. The Wine Pairing Dinner also includes silent and live auctions hosted by Fritz Hatton. All proceeds benefit the STEM education programs of the Silicon Valley Education Foundation.
The Silicon Valley Education Foundation, (SVEF), is a non-profit resource and advocate for students and educators. SVEF strives to improve education through strategic partnerships with schools, districts, businesses, and community organizations. SVEF leverages partnerships and resources for public education, so that all students can realize their full potential. SVEF drives academic achievement in the critical areas of STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. SVEF serves the community by providing direct service programs, advocating positive policy change, and offering resources for innovation to students and educators across the Valley.
The Santa Cruz Mountains has played a pivotal role in the history of winemaking in California, with roots going back over 100 years, and including legendary winemakers such as Paul Masson, Martin Ray, David Bennion (Ridge), and David Bruce. The precedence set by these legendary figures (along with best and sustainable practices in the vineyards and wineries) can be tasted today in our world-class wines. Recognized as an AVA in 1981, the Santa Cruz Mountains Appellation was among the first to be defined by its mountain topography, following the fog line along the coastto encompass our highest vineyards on the ridgetops at 2600’ elevation. Our vineyards and wineries and the wines they produce reflect this mountain terrain, and their proximity to the ocean and the resulting maritime climate.
Runnymede Sculpture Farm, an open-air collection of contemporary sculpture, is the product of John and Dodie Rosekrans’ passion for modern three-dimensional art. While the majority of the artists are from the US, there are also works included by artists from Spain, England, Italy, Germany, and France.Situated on 120 acres of hills, creeks, fields, forests and trails, the collection graces the rugged natural beauty of the Peninsula site, bought in 1930 by Alma Spreckels Rosekrans as a home for her jumper horses. It was named for her father’s prized stallion. Runnymede is a family private retreat only open to the public for special events – don’t miss this rare opportunity to visit!

In partnership with the San Francisco 49ers, SVEF has created a six-year program in the Santa Clara Unified School District for academically talented students to complete a rigorous college preparatory curriculum, engage in engineering projects in a state of the art digital fabrication lab, and participate in over 300 hours of additional learning every year. All with the goal of inspiring and preparing participants to enroll in STEM majors at top-tier universities.
All contributions directly impact education in our community by providing essential support to local students and educators. There are several ways in which your support helps improve education in Silicon Valley.
e l e vat e ( Math) SVEF’s flagship program, Elevate [Math], is an intensive summer intervention program that prepares targeted incoming 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th graders for success in their next level math courses.
Math is a critical gatekeeper to high school completion and college readiness; however, in California 71% of high school graduates are not prepared for college math. By providing students with strong foundations in critical math courses, SVEF works to narrow the student achievement gap and prepare students for college and career success in the 21st century economy.
Since 2008, SVEF has successfully implemented Elevate [Math], serving nearly 9,000 under-resourced students and providing over 30 hours of professional development each year - over 2 times the average number of hours received during a school year - to more than 460 teachers.
