Introducing Truth’s next generation ofpower window systems... Sentry IIWLS® for windows and light skylights.Based on the powerful and reliablemechanics from our previous motoriza-tion system, we’ve added a new digitalelectronics package with built in powerconversion. This new Sentry II WLSsystem truly takes over where Truth’sSentry 2000® left off.

The new electronics package providesmany new features to enhance a homescomfort and its owner’s peace of mind.

• Retrofits onto casement and awningwindows and light skylights operatedwith a hand crank manufactured byTruth Hardware (see Truth Tips).The motor system drives the sameinput the handle is attached to.

• Power conversion built right into thewall mounted control package whichaccepts direct connection of linevoltages from 100 to 240 VAC at 47to 440 Hz. No more transformers tocomplicate and add expense to theinstallation.

• Power Blind System compatible.Centralized power window systemcontrol is now possible with Sentry II’sability to accept and control most 24 VDC power blind systems. TheSentry II’s remote and wall switchcan be used to control both windowand blind motors for convenient,centralized control.

• Power Protected Memory eliminatesthe need to “reset” or retrain themotor after a power outage. Once theinstallation is complete the motornever needs further service or adjust-ments – even after prolonged poweroutages!

• RF remote compatibility built into allmotor control packages as a standardfeature. Simply order the optionalremote to add new and exciting controlcapability for the homeowner.

• Rain Sensor - standard with all kits,automatically closes the window orskylight at the first sign of moisture.Corrosion resistant sensor decreasesmaintenance cleaning requirementsand extends service life.

• No special preparation is requiredby the window or skylight manufac-turer. The kits are suitable for newconstruction or retrofit applications.Please consult with your electricalcontractor for a retrofit evaluation.

• ETL Listed and CE Approved.Meets all requirements for Class IIinstallations.

• Safety - Automatic motor reversalhas been engineered into the systemwhich is intended to reverse themotor should an obstruction stop thewindow while closing. In addition,a screen interlock is provided which,when properly installed, electricallydisconnects the motor when the screenis removed. These features are intend-ed to help prevent personal injurywhich could result from reaching intothe window area during its operation.

• Motorized Sash Locks are availablefor use with the WLS system forcasement and awning windows. SeeTruth’s Casement and Awning SashLock section for complete details.

• Building Automation Systemscan easily be tied into the controlelectronics for virtually limitlessventilation possibilities.

SENTRY II WLS CAPACITY• When used on light skylights, Truth’s

Sentry II WLS is load rated at 40 lbsat the chain. This equates to a totalskylight hatch weight of 80 lbs.

• When used on casement windows,the Sentry II WLS is designed towork on all window systems meetingthe AAMA-101 hardware loadrequirements. (See Truth Tips)

• When used on awning windows, theSentry II WLS is designed to workon awning windows with a properlysized counter-balance hinge (SeeTruth Tips) and operator. (Consultawning operator specifications).

CONTROL OPTIONS The Sentry II WLS kit comes with astandard wall control panel. The samecontrol panel can also accept andcontrol most commercially available 24 VDC mini blinds (not provided byTruth Hardware). The panel also pro-vides feedback to the user via a statuslight (LED). This small LED showswhen the motor is running, or if thereare any problems during window orskylights operation.

The optional RF Hand Held Remoteis available which adds even more flexibility and convenience to a homeswindows or skylights.

REMOTE FEATURES INCLUDE: • Infinite Number of windows & sky-

lights can be controlled with a singleremote.

• 9 Zones or “unit codes” are availableto allow units to be controlled ingroups and organized to a users needs.

• Rolling Code Technology proven in garage door openers is built intoevery remote to provide high securityand peace of mind.

WARRANTY: The Sentry II family of products is warranted for one yearagainst defects in materials and work-manship on all electronic and mechan-ical components. ORDERING INFORMATION:Ordering of the new Sentry II systemsis much easier than in the past. Allhardware necessary for mounting thesystem on either a window or skylightis now included in the same kit.

TRUTH TIPS: 1. Truth Hardware does not recommendthe use of the Sentry II WLS on anycasement window system that does notmeet AAMA 101 hardware loadrequirements. All hardware and motorsystem warranties are void if the windowsystem does not meet these guidelines.

2. Awning windows must be equippedwith a properly sized counter balancehinge such as Truth Hardware’s 13 seriesor 34 series 4-bar hinges. If an awningwindow is specified with butt (or con-tinuous) hinges, a skylight operator andmotor system must be used. All hardwareand motor system warranties are voidif these guidelines are not followed.(See Tech Notes).

3. Unless otherwise specified, theSentry II WLS power window system isdesigned to operate any properly sizedrotary hardware and hinge system man-ufactured by Truth Hardware. Use ofthe Sentry II WLS motor system onwindows or skylights with manualhardware manufactured by companiesother than Truth Hardware is at yourown risk. For verification, look for theTruth logo/name stamped on the hingeand operator arm, or consult with thewindow manufacturer. If your hardwareis not manufactured by Truth Hardware,contact Truth’s Technical ServiceDepartment for available options at800-324-4487.

4. The Sentry II WLS system is ratedfor use in indoor applications only.

5. The Sentry II WLS power skylightsystem is designed to be used on sky-light operators that lift to open and pullto close in the center of the skylight.Therefore, the stiles of the skylight panelmust be rigid enough in the closedposition to ensure proper corner pull-infor a weather tight seal and rigid enoughin the open position to provide properskylight stability when supported at asingle center point. The wider the skylightis, the more significant this issue canbecome. For more assistance, contactTruth Hardware Technical Services.

6. The Sentry II WLS requires 1 ampof 120 VAC.

Motorized system for skylights (notexceeding 80 lbs), awning or casementwindows. Mounting should accommo-date wood, PVC or metal skylights andwindows. Motorized system shallreplace the handle on crank type sky-light, casement or awning windowoperators manufactured by TruthHardware. The motor drive to be con-structed of a high pressure zinc die casthousing, containing hardened steeldrive gears and a high torque 24 voltDC motor. Interchangeable driveadapter allows the system to be com-patible with all Truth operators andmany other window hardware systemsnot manufactured by Truth (contactTruth Technical Services for a list ofcompatible hardware). Mounting hard-ware to be provided to accommodate awide range of window profile shapesand materials. Unit to be available witha decorative plastic cover which allowsconvenient access to mechanical com-ponents and easy installation. Thecontrol system is to be supplied withstandard line voltages from 100 to 240VAC at 47 to 440 Hz. (no transformerrequired). The wall mounted motorcontrol is to come complete with itsown receptacle box and cover plate.Motor system kit shall include: motordrive, decorative cover, wall control,and mounting hardware. This motorsystem shall be “Sentry II WLS” seriesas manufactured by Truth Hardware,Owatonna, MN.
