Learn the Lingo! Allow us to fill you in! There are certain names that those leading you will use throughout W.O.W. when referencing people and locations. We thought that in order to make orientation a little be easier we would let you in on the lingo we use here in the Wesley Family!
RAs (Resident Assistants): If you are living in a Residence Hall, a RA will serve as a lifeline to you during your Wesley College experience. These upperclassmen leaders will provide important information, schedule fun and informative programs, and assist with any issues that you encounter while living in the Halls.
OLs (Orientation Leaders): These upperclassmen should be familiar to you because they assisted during your one-day SOAR experience. They are incredibly knowledgeable about the Orientation process and different campus resources. Be sure to pick their brain by asking lots of questions!
Team: The team of your peers with whom you’ll be going through W.O.W. More than likely they live on your floor or in your building. All the commuters will be together to help them form relationships with those like them!
Group: You’ll be Blue or White. These groups are a bunch of teams put together. Look for fun things to happen when your group gets together!
Wolverine Spot Locations: You have been assigned to a student group based upon your commuter, residential or special group status (see previous page for your team name!). You will meet your group in the front lawn on State Street (near the Wesley College sign) and Outdoor Amphitheater area. Look for your team name sign and student leaders!
What Happens If…
I’m hungry How will I eat If you are a residential student, your meal plan will be activated on Wednesday, August 17thth so all you’ll need to do is swipe your ID. All first-year students have The Ultimate meal plan (19 meals per week) or the Malmberg Meal Plan (10 meals per week). You must access the dining hall by “swiping” your ID Card. If you are a commuting student, we will provide your meals in the dining hall throughout W.O.W. (ending at dinner on August 21st). If you are interested in purchasing a meal plan for the semester, you may do so with Residence Life located in the Office of Student Affairs, College Center, First Floor.
I’m injured and unable to walk long distances? Bus services will be available for the Beach trip and for Shopping. You need to meet at your Wolverine Spot to check in with your team leaders. Talk to your Team Leaders about the service.
I have questions or get lost or need help? Feel free to ask any of the OLs, RA’s, faculty or staff to have your questions answered, to be pointed in the right direction, and to pick up extra materials. We have a list of your major, room number, and anything else you’ll need to know.
I am an athlete and I have to miss something or leave early? Your coaches have given us a schedule and your OL is aware, just check with them before you leave.
