Windows 8 Client Login for WSAM The following are the steps a Microsoft’s Windows 8 user would follow to connect to the Scripps Health VPN using the Juniper MAG environment to start a Windows Secure Application Manager (WSAM) session. Using a WSAM session allows your computer to tunnel application specific traffic over the VPN tunnel and into the Scripps network without being directly attached to the Scripps network. 1. Open a web browser from the “Desktop tile” of the Windows Metro desktop, Not the “Metro” IE Icon”

2. Login to the Juniper MAG environment and go to https://vpn2.scrippshealth.org. Once the webpage opens, enter your user credentials.

3. After you have been authenticated, Juniper Host Checker will run.

3a. During this process, if you do not have Juniper Host Checker already installed, you will be prompted by Windows to allow the installer .exe file to run. Click Allow to proceed and the download process will start.

4. Once the installation of Juniper Host Checker has been completed, you will see a screen similar to the one below stating the operation has completed successfully and there will be a green dot lit up.

5. Next, you will see the Windows Secure Application Manager (WSAM) start to download. Once the download is finished, you will get a prompt from Windows asking your permission to allow the execution of the .exe file. Click Allow to proceed.

6. Once the installation of the WSAM is complete, the application will start and again Windows will ask you for permission to run the executable file. Click Allow to start WSAM.

 

7. As the WSAM application starts, you may see the following message about needing to reboot. You can disregard and click Cancel to continue.

  8. WSAM should now be started and you can confirm this by going down to the bottom right corner of your desktop and seeing a blue icon that looks like it has white ears. Right-click on it and go to status. For status it should say connected, if not please contact the helpdesk.
