Shades of Greatness
At just 12 years of age, Jim Servies, CEO and
President of WindowPros, was already working
in the window coverings industry, helping his
family install window treatments. During his days in the
retail business, working for large department and home
improvement stores, Jim — along with colleague Mike
Ballerini, now Vice President of WindowPros — noticed a
trend: the market for hard window coverings such as
wood blinds and shutters was growing, while demand for
soft window coverings, like draperies, was in decline.
Seeing a need for certain types of window treatments,
and convinced they could produce and install a better
quality product, they decided to start their own business.
Just under a decade later, WindowPros proudly provides
its own line of quality, customized window treatment
solutions to American households.

By 1995, Jim Servies and
Mike Ballerini were
already running their own
window coverings business in
Eastern Tennessee. Recognizing
a viable market niche and deter-
mined to do what it takes to meet
their customers’ needs, they
founded WindowPros as a
factory-direct source for custom
wood blinds. To meet growing
customer demand and build on
the success of the WindowPros
brand, they opened a state-of-
the-art showroom in the summer
of 2001, as well as a new 12,000
square foot wood blind and
plantation shutter production
facility. A new 30,000 square foot
production facility is scheduled
to open in 2005, and will become
the home to several other
WindowPros handcrafted
product lines.
In just eight years, WindowPros,
grew from 2 employees to 18,
and developed a strong reputation
as a leading provider of
window coverings within the
Southeastern United States.
