BEADED CROSS NECKLACE

This cross necklace reminds us that Jesus Christ died on the cross in Israel for our sins. Lets pray thatALL of the Israeli people will come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

33 suede lace (per child), 1/8 wide

7 blue pony beads per child

1 white pony bead per child

Glue (optional)

DIRECTIONS:

Fold the cord in half and hold on to the foldedend. *Push 2 blue beads on the folded end. Leave asmall amount of cord below the blue beads.Put one blue bead on each piece of the leatherlacing (from the other end).Push the remainder of the blue beads (3) onto the

leather lacing on both strings.Tie the two ends of the leather lacing together ina knot.Push 2 of the blue beads towards the knot.Push the other blue bead that is on both stringstowards the beads that are individually strung.Place a white bead sideways (open ends be-tween the 2 blue beads) and then push thedouble strung blue bead down until it tightens thenecklace to hold the white bead in place.

You may add glue if you wish to hold the white

bead in.

*Hint: If the lace is difficult to thread through thebeads folded, taper the ends with scissors andthread the ends through the beads instead of thefold.

TO PREPARE:

Sift flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and ginger together (spices

depend on your personal taste).Beat eggs, gradually adding the sugar, until thick and light in color.Beat in oil, honey and coffee; stir in flour mixture and nuts.Grease an 11x16x4 inch baking pan and line with aluminum foil. For 2 smaller cakes, use two 9 inchloaf pans. Turn the batter into the pan(s).Bake at 325 degrees for 1 1/4 hours for the large cake, 50 minutes for the 2 smaller ones, or untilbrowned and cake tester comes out clean.Cool on a cake rack before removing from pan.

Honey cake is the traditional cake of the Land of Milk and Honey. Honey cake is a must for the JewishNew Year, Rosh Hashana, since its sweetness symbolizes the wishes for a good year ahead.
