Dear Parents and Guardians: With the Holiday Season upon us, it is essential that we, together as a school community, teach our children the importance of helping others. “It is Cool to Care” is the motto we strive to instill in our students and staff at William Street School on a daily basis.

Our students attended William Street School’s Annual Movie Night. The students enjoyed time with their friends eating popcorn and watching either Incredibles 2 or Hotel Transylvania 3. A special thank you to Mrs. Chojnacki and Mr. Romig and the William Street School PTO for coordinating this fun night for our students. A big thank you to Mrs. Mineo and Mrs. Lumb for organizing our Scholastic Book Fair and Mrs. Perillo-Okeke, Mrs. Pliszka, Mrs. Shaw and Mrs. Lorigo for organizing the coin drive and the “All for Books Campaign”! Thank you for helping give the gift of reading to others! Follow good health guidelines: eat right, exercise, and get plenty of rest to help boost your immunity to fight the effects of colds and flu. Wash hands frequently, do the elbow cough, and disinfect hot spots at school, work, and home. The top five most virus-contaminated areas in the home are: 1. Telephones (have you cleaned your cell phone lately?) 2. Appliances such as the refrigerator and microwave 3. Faucets 4. Light switches and door handles 5. TV remotes NYS mandates have changed for the 2018/2019 school year. Students in grades 4 & 6 are no longer required to have any screenings. In January, we will begin the annual screenings for our Grade 5 students. These will include vision (near & far), hearing and scoliosis for the girls only. If your child’s results deviate from the normal recommended ranges, you will be notified by mail. Please have this form completed by your health care provider and return the report to the health office as soon as possible. It is important for academic success that your child wears his or her prescribed glasses during the day. Enjoy a healthy holiday season!
