The situation

• The little ones are boooored! They’ve watched all the new movies, seen all the cartoons, had their parents read all the books, but they still want something new. Do you think you can entertain a toddler with nothing but a camera and some play dough? Prove it!

Introduction

• Our client is lower school childrens. Their problems are, they’re very bored. They did all fun things they can do but still they want something new. The client wants a new animation that can entertain them. The animation must be very interesting to keep children from getting bored and asking for more. Throughout this unit we’re going to create an animation that will entertain them. We will go through a shorter version of the design cycle. We will interview the client and ask what they want. We will work efficiently and try my best to create a good animation.

TimeThe whole project should be done in 5 weeks. I will

need to do work at home as well to finish this in time.

We will check if I could finish it before 5 weeks are up. If I can finish it before the due date, it will be

much better.

Cost The whole project should not cost more than $10 since $10 is very big amount of money.

We will make sure that I did not spend anymore than $10 on the whole project.

Form The animation must be an animation We’ll make sure it’s an animation and nothing else.

AestheticsThe animation should look good and attractive, so it

attract children, and also make them not getting bored.

We will make Dhana’s cousin watch and see if they get bored or not.

Function To entertain little children and stop making them bored. We will see if Dhana’s cousin get bored or not.

Purpose To entertain little children and stop making them bored. We will see if Dhana’s cousin get bored or not.

Target Audience Children We will make sure the content of the animation is appropriate for children.

Design BriefI will make an create an animation to educate and entertain childrens of the lower grade. This product is created using the design cycle, investigate, design, plan, create, and evaluation. I will research about how animations are made and what made it so good. We will create in IT class or our houses if we don’t have anymore time. In design, we are going to design the animation from the information that we get from the research. In the plan stage, we are going to plan on how much time we need to make the animation. In the create stage, we are going to create and make our animation with such limited amount of time and carry out the plan we made. In the evaluation stage, we’re going to evaluate our whole progress in creating the animation including the animation itself.

Page 10: Wiliam & Dhana Animation

ResearchAnimations are made by first creating a drawing. Then you draw another picture that has slightly moved the way you want. You need to do that over and over again to create a moving picture or animation. You can draw in a CAD (Computer Aided Design). CAD is a computerized storyboard. You need to draw the picture and copy it several times and slightly moving it to create the animation. Then you can export each copy to separated image files. Then you combine them to create an animated GIF image.

Summary of Design 1Design 1 has a sort of story to it that shows how reality is and how it can break you down. But things can happen and things could go back to the way it came from. This design show a lot of reality aspects so kids can see how hard life is when they grew up. Some kids who like fantasies probably won’t like this but some kids who enjoys a slice of reality will probably enjoy it.

Page 17: Wiliam & Dhana Animation

Summary of Design 2

Design 2 is plain stick fighting. It’s quite detailed because we need details to make the stick fight easier. But there’s no educational values in it. It also have some sort of violence in it. But usually little boys like this sort of animation the best. So it will entertain them really well. But maybe the girls won’t really like it.

Evaluation Against Specification-Final Design

Specification Design 1 Comment

Customer The final design is child friendly so children would be fine after

watching it and it also is interesting.

Form The form is going to be in animation

Aesthetics We think that how the animation look like is fine.

Cost It may or may not cost money depending on are we going to use

clay or just make it directly in the computer.

Function The function of the animation is to entertain and educate little

childrens.

Ease of Creation It is going to be a little hard but at least not as hard as the

second design.

Summary of Final Design

The final design is fine because we still follow the first design because we can’t think of anything to improve on. The final design would be suitable for little kids and also will educate them in how real life works although some of the situations are just plainly for humor. We think that this animation will probably work so we used this instead of the other one.

Tools and Sources

• We are going to use istopmotion to make the movie animation.

• We may be using clay to make the animation.

• We may be using a painting application in our laptop.

• We need imovie to edit the aniamtion so it look good.

• We need itunes to import the animation from imovie.

Evaluation of PlanThe plan that we made was not really specicfic but we know what to do. The plan wasn’t really perfect since we don’t know if we’re going to use clay or pictures that we made in our laptop for the animation. However, we do now know what we are going to be doing for the create stage. The plan wasn’t perfect but it is still good.

First Day

• On the first day, we created the stickman and other prop for the movie. We also chose our background. Those stickman were not great and they could not stand.

Monday, December 12, 2011

Page 28: Wiliam & Dhana Animation

Second Day

• Our prop got destroyed so we gotta redo and make everything again from scratch. It was really annoying.

Monday, December 12, 2011

Page 29: Wiliam & Dhana Animation

Third Day

• We still are continuing in creating the prop. The stickman are looking better than the previous ones. We also created the background for the first scene.

Monday, December 12, 2011

Page 30: Wiliam & Dhana Animation

Fourth Day

• We still haven’t start shooting yet, and we’re still doing the prop preparations.

Monday, December 12, 2011

Page 39: Wiliam & Dhana Animation

PERFORMANCE AT EACH STAGE

• Investigate: I think I did most of the work. I did it because I think I should more work so that I can actually contribute in the group. Wiliam did help by helping me research and do the invenstigation stage.

• Design: In here I created the design for the animation. We need to make 2 so I did one and my partner did 1. We also evaluate our design and choose 1 design. I think Wiliam did more work than before.

• Plan: In here I did all of the planning. I should have let Wiliam do some work since I think I took too much work from him.

• Create: In the movie shooting, I think I still did most of the work. I think this was really boring because just a few seconds have taken a long time to shoot. But I think the result was quite good.

• Evaluation: I did less here because I think I should give more chance to Wiliam to actually work and contribute to the group. I think he did a great job in evaluating.

TESTING MEETING SPECIFICATION

Specification Testing Final Design Why?

CustomerI tested it by making sure

that children like the animation

They were happy and fulfilled. I think it was a

successful attempt in creating an animation. I also think it’s child friendly.

Form I check if I used the media that was allowed to use

Yes I was using a media that can be used, which is an animation. I used IStopMotion and Imovie so it’s

okay.

AestheticI will see if my product is not too bad, and it needs

to be interesting.

It’s seems pretty interesting, not much problem in the animation. But sometimes there’s hands in the

animation but it’s doesn’t really show.

Cost I will check if it exceeds 10$ It did not cost us anything, so it’s fine.

FunctionI checked if the children are interested with the

movie, and are they happy and educated.

Children did get interested, but I don’t think it

educates them. It’s only sheer good fun.

Ease of Creation

I will see if I did make it easily, but still have good

quality in it.X

When I create it, it’s not really easy. It needs a lot of patience. I also had a hard time on taking scenes with that includes floating or going up in the air.

Monday, December 12, 2011

Page 41: Wiliam & Dhana Animation

Successful Points

I think we did well in the comedy part of the movie. I think that it’s really good and entertaining. I think we also create a good vehicle models. Which I think looks pretty much like a car/helicopter. The storyline was also good, and funny.

Monday, December 12, 2011

Page 42: Wiliam & Dhana Animation

Least Successful points

✤ I think some of the least successful points are, my background. It wasn’t realistic and looks poorly drawn. My moving is also bad, because it seems it’s floating. Also it moves too fast, and sometimes to slow, which is sort of funny, but not professional. I also think I did bad, when the character is entering a door. It seems like it just crashed to the wall.

Monday, December 12, 2011

Page 43: Wiliam & Dhana Animation

MODIFICATIONS/IMPROVEMENTS

We modified a lot in the movie. Like we did not put the shower scene and eating scene, because I don’t know how to do that scene, and I think it would take too much time. I also did not create the plane crash scene because it’s we can’t create a plane. We also did not make the rescued by helicopter scene because we can’t make the helicopter fly properly. We did add some car crash scene for comedy. We also add the rescuer kills himself just for comedy.

Monday, December 12, 2011

Page 44: Wiliam & Dhana Animation

Impact to Society

I think the animation would make children entertained. It would make them motivated to study. I don’t think it would affect adults or teenagers because the movie are not directed to them.

Monday, December 12, 2011

Page 45: Wiliam & Dhana Animation

IMPACT TO ENVIRONMENT

I think the environment won’t be affected directly. This product will only use electric to use and laptop. Well the electric will be wasted but I don’t think it won’t affect much since the number of electricity used won’t increase much and the electric power plant would work like normal.
