Whetherthisisyourfirsttimeoryou’vebeententimesbeforewe’resoexcitedthatyou’reherewithusatMayCamp2019–Wildfire!We’vepackedsomuchworship,teaching,games,workshopsandsportsintothisweekend,webelieveit’sgoingtobethebestMayCampever!

ThenameWildfirecomesfromtheexcitingmessageofJesuswhichspreadlikewildfiretwothousandyearsagowhenasmallgroupofbelieverscouldn’tkeepittothemselves.We’regoingtobelookinginourmainmeetingsatwhatcausedtheearlychurchtospringupsoquickly.Wewantyoutocatchthesamefirethatthoseearlydisciplesdid,andfallmoreinlovewithbothJesusandthechurch.

Thisweekend,wepraythatyou’lluseeveryopportunitytoaskquestions,talktoyouryouthleaders,respondwhenyouneedtorespond,beloudwhenyouneedtobeloudandbequietwhenyouneedtobequiet.Asfullastheweekendis,aboveeverythingelsewewantyoutohavespacetoexplorewhoGodisandwhatthatmeansforyourlife.

YourgroupleaderwillregisteryouwhenyourgrouparrivesonFriday.Alldayvisitorsmustregisteronarrivalovertheweekendsothatwecankeeptrackofwhoisonsite.InfoPointisalsotheplacetosignupforworkshopsandopenmic,tellusjokes,askquestionsandmaybefindyourlostproperty.Ifyouloseyourwristbandyoucangetareplacementheretoo(butpleaselookafterthem,anewoneis£5).InfoPointismannedduringthedayoverthewholeweekend.

IfyouhaveafirstaidneedorotherqueryInfoPointshouldbeabletohelporatleastpointyouintherightdirection.

ThecaféisrunbyBeccy,RosieandClairealongwithateamofwonderfulvolunteers.Ifthey’renotrushingaroundservingyousnacksthey’llbechattingwithyouandhavingfun.Theyloveitwhenyouhelpoutbyrecyclingyourcansandputtingyourrubbishinthebins.

Thisistheplacetochillout,relaxwithyourmatesandgetsomestufftoeatanddrink.Thiswillsometimesbeusedasaseminarvenueandisclosedduringmainmeetingsbutinfreetimethisisagreatmeetingplaceandhosttosomesillygamesandmuchmore.Hoodiesarealsoonsaleinthecaféandforthefirsttimein2019,wecannowtakecardpayments.

Somethingelsethatspreadslikewildfireis,ofcourse,fireitself.WesawthereallyterrifyingaspectofthatinthefirethatdidsuchdestructionatNotreDameinParis.Andwehavealsoseenthatglobalwarmingcancreatewildfiresthatdoterribledestructiontotheearthandournaturalhabitat.

ThesepowerfulimagesconnectustothedeepermysteryabouttheimpactofthefireofGod’slove.Thismysteryisthecapacityofdivinelovetopurifyandtoperfect.

ThegoodnewsofJesusChrist,spreadlikeflamesinthewindandbreathoftheHolySpirit,hasthecapacitytoconsumehatred,greed,fearandallourhumanlimitations.

Moreimportantly,itcreatesthecruciblefromwhichthepuregoldofGod’sloveandgloryisuniquelyshapedineachofus.IpraythatMayCamp2019willbealaboratoryforthefireofthatlovetobeseenatworkineachofyou.
