Wikis = Collaboration
Wonderful tool to engage interpersonal intelligent learners within same or different districts
(Teachers new to Wiki)
History
WikiWikiWeb was the first wiki site. In 1994, Ward Cunningham developed the first wiki
software. WikiWikiWeb, originally described as "the simplest
online database that could possibly work.“ "Wiki" is a Hawaiian word for "fast“ and can be
expanded as "What I Know Is“. A shuttle ran between airport’s terminals called “Wiki
Wiki” at Honolulu International Airport. Therefore, the Wiki was named instead of “quick” by Mr. Cunningham.

Background
A wiki is a collection of Web pages designed to enable anyone with access to contribute or modify content, using a simplified markup language.
Wikis are often used to create collaborative websites and to power community websites. For example, Wikipedia is one of the best-known wikis.
In early 2000s, Wikis were used in business to provide intranet , project communication, and documentation.
Today, not only do companies use wikis, but also schools and universities use wikis to enhance group learning.
