Enabling the Internet of Things 2.0

WideSpime it is written in Erlang, an open source language developed by the Ericsson Computer Science Laboratory and it is based on its Open Telecom Platform infrastructure.

Next generation computing networks are being built with both enterprise, and consumer orientation. The characteristic number of their client devices, which we call spimes, is orders of magnitude higher than traditional networks, and the communications between these clients and the central servers pose unprecedented challenges in architecture, design, and management of the entire system.

The advantages of these novel platforms are too big to ignore, and as the infrastructure is being realized, at the same time the presentation layers are also being addressed, designing the contours of the efficient information representation that people can understand, and act upon: the real-time web.

The share of information that passes between devices and servers without ever being seen by humans, the machine-to-machine communication ratio of spime networks is very high, and represents an arbitrarily heavy burden on backend infrastruc-ture in terms of frequency, and bandwidth require-ments.
