A diverse range of talent and skill sets from across the province were assessed in Football Alber-ta’s Super Weekend camp, held from Jan. 12-14 at Foote Field in Edmonton. With more than 40 top coaches running the camp and 350 players in attendance, only the best players have been handpicked to progress into the next round of training.
This is the first step for Football Alberta in selecting their Team Alberta U18 that will compete in the Football Canada Cup this summer to be hosted in Calgary from July 15-22. The Football Cana-da Cup is a National Championship featuring provincial teams from across Canada competing at the U18 level.
The selected athletes will now be expected to attend winter camps at the Foote Dome at the Uni-versity of Alberta in February and March with the final selections of the team scheduled for April 20-22 at McMahon Stadium in Calgary. At the Calgary Camp in April the Top-40 will be selected for the final roster of Team Alberta U18, while a 40 man Team Alberta U17 will also be selected, which will head to Maui in August to partake in the Pacific Challenge featuring Team Saskatche-wan U17 and local Hawaiian high schools.
Here is the list of selected players advancing in the process listed alphabetically by position:

Football is one of 13 sports participating in the 2018 Alberta Summer Games July 19-22 in Grande Prairie. Football will feature 8 Zone Teams from around the province and games will be played at
the CKC Field in Grande Prairie and in the Town of Wembley.
Registration is available for the Zone Selection Camp at the cost of $85 plus GST. Below you will find the Selection Camp Schedule and Zone map to determine what Zone you are eligible to try-
out for.
In order to participate the athletes must be graduating Grade 9 or lower in June of 2018 and will not turn 17 during the calendar year of 2018. Anyone who played Bantam football under the Foot-ball Alberta Eligibility Guidelines the previous season would be able to try out for an Alberta Sum-
mer Games Zone team. Walk-ons are welcome, but they must meet the above criteria.
In order to attend a Selection Camp you must register online at:
http://fc-alberta.goalline.ca/event-
search.php
Once registered on-line you will receive an email receipt with further instructions. If you do not receive this email within a day of registering
contact me.
Following the Selection of the Zone Teams there is a Team Registration Fee of between $200 and $300 depending what Zone you are from. Each team will have up to 30 hours of practice before the Alberta Summer Games on weekends or weeknights in June & July. The travel day and the Opening Ceremonies are on July 19th with
one Game per zone on July 20, 21 & 22.
Please note: The 40 players selected to our U16 Team Alberta on April 22nd can try out for and participate in the 2018 Alberta Summer Games. The Football Canada U16 Western Challenge is from July 1st to 7th with the team playing tourna-ment games on July 4th & 7th. The schedule al-lows players to play both however players are also free to only choose one or other if they or their family have concerns about the amount of football between May and July and the costs of both programs.

Football Alberta Membership consists of 2 plans: Plan #1 provides annual team membership and insurance for all players and team personnel. Plan #2 is available for teams that do not require insurance. Please note that all minor teams; Bantam, Peewee and Atom are required to obtain Football Alberta insurance to be eligible for Minor Provincials. PLAN #1 - TEAM AND PLAYER INSURANCE Includes $5 Million Liability & Accident Insurance for the following rates: (Team Fee + Mandatory Insurance for all Minor teams) These fees are in effect when payment is made on time. - After the fee deadline, Late Fees will apply.

League Coordinators & Team Managers: Membership and insurance runs on the calendar year (January 1 to December 31). It is easiest for league/team administrators to register players at the start of the year for gym nights in January & February and then continue to register players as they join the team thru spring camp and summer and fall. It is extremely important for the welfare of players and team personnel that insurance is valid (and thus paid for) as soon as you start registration. Please note that the insurance policy provides both accident and liability coverage and is valid regardless of how long players are with your team (one day, one week or all season).
