•All substitutes have severe drawbacks
•Money transfer via mobile is being done today in an informal way

Mobile Number PortabilityLoss of phone number can be equal to loss of income!
Number portability gives a possibility to bring a phone number along when switching mobile operator.
Number portability can increase bargaining power for mobile subscribers towards mobile operators.
Can lead to lower tariffs and better service if properly implemented. (Measuring the Benefits of Mobile NumberPortability, Lyons, 2006)
