Two-Way King Street Study (1500 Block) •  WILMAPCO Study; part of UPWP •  Concept Study to be completed soon •  Addressed vehicular and pedestrian circulation and safety •  Rough cost estimate of preferred alternative: $250,000 •  Next Steps: identify path forward and funding for design and construction

This study involves analyses of traffic circulation and evaluations of intersection geometry to determine if two-way traffic on the 1500 block of King Street, along with other improvements, will enhance vehicular and pedestrian circulation in the area. The preferred alternative includes converting one block of King Street from one-way to two-way traffic, reconfiguring the King Street intersections at 15th Street and 16th Street, and implementing various signing, striping, and traffic signal modifications. At King Street & 16th Street, the existing concrete island would be removed, and high-speed WB right turns would be addressed by reducing the turn radius and having the right turns controlled by the signal. Pedestrian safety, bicycle mobility, and weaving traffic on the Market Street Bridge are also addressed by the preferred alternative.

Schedule and Cost to be determined
