Introducing Miktek™.Classic Technology and Design Revisited.

Miktek is dedicated to the pursuit of superior sound captured through microphones. Our engineering team is inspired by the iconic mics of the past and has developed capsules and unique circuits to capture that elusive, classic sound. During the development stage, our microphone designs are approved by some of the world’s most acclaimed recording engineers.

Our proprietary capsules feature ultra thin Mylar diaphragms with evaporated gold and are manufactured to tight tolerances for unparalleled quality. Precise machining of the backplates, along with careful consideration of internal acoustic properties assures the pristine performance of every microphone.

Our choice of AMI Transformers and our meticulous hand-selection of Fairchild transistors guarantee that our custom capsules are matched with head-amplifiers of impeccable electronic performance. Unique innovations such as the C7’s variable capsule bias voltage - along with variable pattern selection, high-pass filters and pad switches – make Miktek microphones indispensable creative tools for any serious recordist. Attention to detail is everywhere…right down to gold-plated XLR pins and robust, flexible shock-mounting hardware.

As important to us as the audio performance is the feeling an artist gets when they step up to the mic…which is why every Miktek microphone is an esthetic pleasure to use as well. We’ve put considerable thought into the correct packaging and each microphone is shipped in a beautiful wooden case as you would expect of any precision audio instrument.

We use high quality hand selected components from the US, Europe and Asia and hand assemble each microphone in our own factory located in Nashville, Tennessee. We really care about sound, and you do, too.

So, step up to Miktek and listen to what you can really do.

Why use Miktek™?

The arrangements are done, the date is booked, the producer and talent arrive, and the instruments are in tune.

Now, it’s up to you to capture a great performance. Few engineers will argue that after a quality instrument in the hands of a good

player, nothing is more important than the microphone that is placed to capture an artist’s performance.

Miktek microphones provide engineers, as well as, producers and artists, a level of confidence that their performance will not only be captured accurately, but it will sound incredible.

Our C5 pencil condenser is not just linear and true, but has the sweetness you normally only expect to find in a vintage microphone.

Top engineers have told us that our large diaphragm C7 FET and CV4 tube condensers sound so musical, that when the cue mix is sent their headphones, artists just perform better.

C7 Large Diaphragm Multi-PatternFET Condenser

7 MK7 Dual 1-inch Capsule 4-micron Mylar, Evaporated Gold Diaphragms

7 Cardioid, Omni and Bi-directional Pick-up Patterns 7 High-pass Filter & -10dB Pad Switches 7 Variable Capsule Bias Voltage: 48 – 60v 7 AMI T7 Transformer 7 Individual serialized Frequency Response Graph 7 Wood Presentation Case with Swivel-mount, Shock-

mount and rugged aluminum Carrying Case

The Miktek C7, multi-pattern, large diaphragm FET condens-er will impress the most critical listeners and inspire artists

to create their best performance. The microphone’s pick-up characteristic is selectable; offering cardioid, omni and bidirec-tional patterns. In addition, the C7 employs a high-pass filter and –10dB pad for recording loud sound sources.

The frequency response is warm on the bottom and silky-sweet on the top, yet at the same time, the midrange is natural and open. The microphone produces amazing results when recording acoustic instruments, guitar amps, or as overheads on a drum kit. But of course, the C7 really excels on vocal applications.

The C7 utilizes the new MK7 capsule developed by Mik-tek engineers, featuring dual 1-inch diaphragms made using 4-micron Mylar with a 0.4-micron layer of evaporated gold. Diaphragms are then precisely tensioned, mounted to carefully- tuned backplates, and finally set back-to-back, with electronic isolation, to create the finished capsule.

The C7’s head amplifier has been designed around the AMI T7 transformer and, together with the implementation of high-quality components including hand-selected transistors, offers a sweet response reminiscent of highly desirable vintage microphones.

In addition, the innovated head amplifier design features a unique circuit that allows the engineer to switch the capsule bias voltage from +48 to +60 volts. This proprietary circuit implementation essentially provides the mic with two voices; allowing you to choose between a classic and modern micro-phone. At +48 volts the capsule’s diaphragm is under less tension, so it’s able to react to extremely subtle changes in sound pressure; enabling the microphone to capture the slight-est nuances in any performance. When the bias voltage is set to +60 volts, the C7 is extremely accurate and articulate.

The Miktek C7 is hand assembled, tested and packaged in Nashville, Tennessee, USA using components from the US, Europe and Asia. Each microphone includes its serialized frequency response graph created during final testing.

The C7 is packaged with its swivel mount, in a wooden box, and set inside a rugged aluminum case along with the included shock mount.

CV4 Large Diaphragm Multi-Pattern Tube Condenser

7 Classic Large-diaphragm Tube Condenser Design 7 MK9 Dual 1-inch Capsule with 4-micron Mylar, Evapo-

rated Gold Diaphragms 7 Nine Selectable Pick-up Patterns 7 High-pass Filter and –10dB Pad Switches 7 AMI BT4 Transformer 7 Original NOS Telefunken EF800 Tube 7 Individual serialized Frequency Response Graph 7 External Power Supply and 7-pin XLR Cable 7 Wood Presentation Case with swivel-mount, shock-

mount and rugged aluminum Carrying Case

The Miktek CV4 is a large-diaphragm tube condenser microphone offering nine pick-up patterns. The CV4’s

sound is truly large and produces a musical response that will please artists, producers and most seasoned engineers alike. The bottom end is big, warm and tight, with mids that are present and even, along with a high frequency response that’s sweet and airy. The CV4 is ideal for recording single vocal-ists, and perfect for acoustic instruments, groups of vocals, piano, string ensembles, winds, overheads on a drum kit or as ambient room mics.

For enhanced control, the CV4 includes a high-pass filter and –10dB pad for high SPL applications.

The CV4 utilizes the MK9 capsule developed by Miktek. This unique capsule features dual 1-inch diaphragms manu-factured using 4-micron Mylar with a 0.4-micron layer of evaporated gold, which is precisely tensioned, mounted to carefully-tuned backplates, and set back-to-back to create the final capsule. Tight tolerances and special attention to precise machining of the backplate produce a linear off-axis response that ensures the accuracy of the microphone.

The heart and soul of the CV4’s head amplifier is the AMI BT4 transformer, which offers a classic sound and an extended low frequency response found in the earliest versions of the most famous vintage tube microphones. Together with an original NOS (new-old-stock) Telefunken EF800 tube, in which the high-voltage circuit has been uniquely implemented, the microphone challenges the performance of the best-in-class industry standards without hesitation.

The Miktek CV4 is hand-built using components from the US, Europe and Asia, and is tested and packaged in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Each microphone includes its serial-ized frequency response graph created during final testing.

The CV4 is packaged with its swivel mount in a wooden box, which is set inside an aluminum case with the included power supply unit, 7-pin XLR cable and shock mount.

C5 Small Diaphragm Cardioid Pencil Condenser

7 MK5a 0.5-inch Cardioid Capsule with 5-micron Mylar, Evaporated Gold Diaphragm

7 AMI T5 Transformer 7 Hand-selected Fairchild Transistors 7 Individual serialized Frequency Response Graph 7 Available as a single mic in a wood Presentation Case

with Mic Clip; or 7 Available as a stereo matched pair with wood Presenta-

tion Case with Mic Clips, Shock-mounts, Windscreens, Stereo Bar Set, in a rugged aluminum carrying case

The Miktek C5 pencil condenser provides discerning engineers with a valuable new tool for the critical recording

of acoustic instruments. The C5, fitted with our MK5a, 0.5-inch cardioid capsule, produces a super-linear, full-bodied response. The capsule employs a 5-micron tensioned Mylar diaphragm, on which a 0.5-micron layer of evaporated gold is applied. Tight tolerances and special attention to precise machining of the backplate, and acoustical porting, produces an off-axis response that ensures the accuracy of the microphone.

The C5’s head amplifier has been designed around the AMI T5 transformer and, together with the implementation of high quality components including hand-selected transistors, offers a sweet response reminiscent of the iconic classic mics of the past. The Miktek C5 is perfect for recording acoustic instru-ments including violin, acoustic guitar, mandolin, dobro, brass, woodwind, and piano. The C5 produces excellent results on drums as overheads or hi-hat mics.

The Miktek C5 is hand built using components from the US, Europe and Asia, and is tested and packaged in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Each microphone includes its serialized frequency response graph created during final testing.

The C5 is available as a single instrument packaged with a mic clip and wooden presentation box, or as a matched pair packaged with two clips in a wooden box and set inside an aluminum case. Matched-pair accessories include two shock mounts, windscreens and a stereo bar.
