Redefining Ready!Objectives
AASA looked at the research from leading educational institutions and
research organizations to develop a new multi-metric, research-based definition of
College and Career Ready.

Shared Objectives:

The legislation was revised to include Academic and Career Planning Services.

Guidance re: School Board Governance
● Identifies interdependencies between existing legislation, BOE policy, administrative practice and the district’s Education for Employment plan.
● Clarifies discretionary provisions that confirms each district’s philosophy, structure and level of commitment.
● Serves to institutionalize change across time and setting.

Key Takeaway:The Redefining Ready framework can be used to provide credibility for your
E4E/ACP work. It does not have to be a “compliance for a mandate” or a “leap
of faith”. It supports a data driven process for continuous improvement that aligns to the shared objectives of
your key stakeholders.

ESSA Timeline
➢ States are currently drafting ESSA plans.• DPI has been meeting with stakeholders since Summer 2016• Posted for public review in May, public hearings scheduled• Revise and refine over Summer 2017
• Submit to the federal Department of Education in September
➢ Background, resources, timeline and feedback on ESSA are all online.• DPI’s ESSA page: https://dpi.wi.gov/esea
➢ Changes to the State Report Card System will also be pursued outside of ESSA.
