EXACTNESS & FILTERING
Web sites and information storedthereon change constantly.
The WEB is not designed to be exact.
Most search engines index less than 10%of the web.
- Only the static pages are easily searched.
A user must be aware of the structure inorder to search efficiently.

Not all employers of law school graduates will haveaccess to online sources. Therefore, law librariesmust keep their physical collections to ensure thattheir students have training in, and access to, all

SUMMARY
Print formats are more reliable.
Technology is still in its infancy.
Legal and technological standards are currently
only in the incubation stage. Publishers of e-materials continue to adjust price
formulas and delivery methods.
Despite all the above, libraries must acknowledge
that technology has permanently transformed theresearch landscape & altered the perception ofprint value.

Technology is also important.

CURRENCY
Technology enables rapid updating ofinformation.
Online databases eliminate the delay indelivery.
It allow information to be posted online evenas it is created.
Using online version instead of print volumes
saves the researchers both time and effort.
All information is incorporated into a singledisplay.

PRINT MATERIALS ARE LIMITED &
EXCLUSIVE IN USE Print texts restrict use of any given volume to asingle user at a time.
While Digital information can be replicated
innumerable times 7 simultaneously dispersedto recipients worldwide.
Digital avoids limited print runs or understocking.
Documents do not depend on outsideproduction.

CONVENIENCE1. Proxy servers and virtual private networks allow users to
connect to library resources remotely
Hyperlinking in integrated library systems publicizes thelocation of resources
Electronic journal management programs can combineor divide aggregator databases to facilitate searching
Adaptive hardware and software enable disabledpatrons to read resources without requiring the libraryto provide a human reader or interpreter
2. Some traditional reference sources tremendous utility withonline dissemination, as they are more easilymanipulated in database format
3. Technology has also reduced the average amount oftime used to research

PORTABILITY
A book, or any physical container, occupiesspace.
A physical library cannot be easily carried fromone location to another, whereas devicesenvision an eminently portable virtual library
The data is still accessible, transferable, and
downloadable to multiple devices

MALLEABILITY
When referenced material is inelectronic form, it can be easilymassaged or exported into theresearchers work product.
The need to take copious notes whilereading, or to make photocopies ofeach referenced page, vanishes when aquotation and its source information can
be cut directly from its electronicsource and dropped into the citingauthors text.

RELATIONAL MOBILITY
Relational mobility can be defined as the degree towhich there is an availability of options in a givensituation or condition which could provide theperson performing an act or action with more easeand efficiency.
A printed book or set of books is self-contained.
Electronic resources on the other hand are notsimilarly constrained.
Examples include* RIAs tax library and the BNA newsletters, whichcontain references to other vendor publicationsas well as to outside resources such as GPOAccess. (http://ria.thomsonreuters.com; www.bna.com)*JSTOR (www.JSTOR.com)
