Why Miracle-Gro Fertilizer Helps Plants Grow LargerAndrew Cunliffe and Ali Mattes. Plants, Animals, and You, 6th Hour, Marion High School

Introduction: All plants need nutrients to grow. When plants are grown in pots, most people like to use fertilizers. We wondered if different fertilizers like Miracle-Gro would help make the radishes grow bigger and faster. We hypothesized that if we use Miracle-Gro, it will affect the radishes by making them grow faster and bigger. We think this because fertilizer gives plants more nutrients so it can grow faster and bigger.Methods: To test this idea, we have six easy steps:1. Gather All Materials2. Have two pots of soil, one

that will be watered with ¼ cup of fertilizer and the other will be watered with ¼ cup regular water.

3. Bury radish seeds about ½ way into the pot.

4. Move pots to the sunny area of the greenhouse.

5. Water the plants everyday. Don’t over water.

6. Measure growth of progress accordingly over 21-30 days.

Results: The control didn’t grow as fast as the Miracle-Gro induced plant. This data shows some results.

Discussion and Conclusion: Our hypothesis was using Miracle-Gro and other fertilizers would help the radishes grow faster and it is correct because according to other tests, the plants grew faster. If we were to do something different, we would use less miracle grow, because the more you had, the slower the plant growed.
