Why Man Needs SalvationMatthew Hamiton

“All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.”-Ephesians 2:3

The topic I'd like to speak with you on today is that of why man needs salvation. Now this could take a while to talk about, but I'm going to break it down into three main points for now. They are:

Point 1: The cause of man's need for salvationa. We have an inherited sinful natureb. We commit personal sins

Point 2: Everything we do is affected by sin

Point 3: God must punish sin

So lets start off at

Point 1: The causeIt can be summed up into two words, The Fall. The Fall came about by mankind's freedom of choice, greed, rebellion, and ultimately a lack of trust. Adam the father of the human race rebelled and disobeyed his maker.

a. We have inherited sin nature from AdamThere is now a new description of man instead of perfect being. That is a cracked image, being enslaved in sin, and at times wanting to be against God. Which follows us in our everyday life.

b. We commit personal sins“All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God”-Romans 3:23Besides having an inherited sin nature, we also choose to sin.“If we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves...the truth is not in us”-1 John 1:8

Point 2: Sin affects all parts of our livesSin affects our thinking, our actions, our desires, even though we would like it not to.

Point 3: God must punish sinGod's character is a loving God, but he is also holy and cannot tolerate sin in his presence. God will punish us because we deserve it. He set the rules, he has the right, and we disobeyed them. Now we must pay for our actions.

In conclusion, I have shown how sin has affected our lives from when it first entered the earth, to what can happen in the future. We can see why man desperately needs salvation. Now of course there is a way to obtain salvation, but that is a discussion for another time.
