Why is Straight Edge a gang in SLC?

Why I’m asking this question.

• Because I am straight edge and don’t think it should be a gang anymore.

• The violence has died down a lot but yet Straight Edge is still a gang in Utah.

• What are the requirements for a group to become a gang In Salt Lake City?

What I already knew.

• During the 90’s Straight Edge hit an all time high.

• Straight Edge started becoming militant and people wanted others to think this way or they would use physical violence.

• Straight Edge in SLC killed a kid in 90’s and bombed multiple animal testing faculties.

What I wanted to learn.

• Why hasn’t Straight Edge been taken off the gang list or the gang watch list.

• Has Straight Edge still been committing these crimes like this or has it died down?

How I went about my search.

• I looked up all the gangs in Utah and compared them to Straight Edge.

• I used the Public Safety website where they give brief descriptions of each.

• I then called Unified Police Dispatch where I was directed to Carl who answered all my questions.

What I learned.

• I learned that Straight Edge was founded on a gang mindset, therefore it is considered a gang.

• If you don’t join us then we will force you to.
