Why is a good body posture important? All of those times that our mothers would tell us “sit straight” and “don’t slouch” were all for a good reason. Proper body posture is very important as we grow up. These are some of the reasons why having a good body posture is so important: 1. Your breathing becomes easier and deeper When people sit up straight, the frontal muscles and tendons become tighter. Tightening these muscles even a little and then sitting or standing more erect tightens the upper body and makes deeper breathing easier. 2. Circulation and digestion improves Slouched or improper posture has been a contributing factor to some digestive problems like acid reflux or constipation or even hernias. When you have a good body posture, your internal organs in the abdomen come to their natural position without undue compression. 3. It helps your muscles and joints Good posture helps to keep bones and joints in the correct alignment so our muscles are used correctly. Improper function of these bones and joints can result in arthritis and joint pain. Proper posture reduces the stress on ligaments that hold the spinal cord together which in turn minimizes the possibility of an injury. 4. Why is a good body posture important?

All of those times that our mothers would tell us “sit straight” and “don’t slouch” were all for a good reason. Proper body posture is very important as we grow up. These are some of the reasons why having a good body posture is so important:

1. Your breathing becomes easier and deeper – When people sit up straight, the frontal muscles and tendons become tighter. Tightening these muscles even a little and then sitting or standing more erect tightens the upper body and makes deeper breathing easier.

2. Circulation and digestion improves – Slouched or improper posture has been a contributing factor to some digestive problems like acid reflux or constipation or even hernias. When you have a good body posture, your internal organs in the abdomen come to their natural position without undue compression.

3. It helps your muscles and joints – Good posture helps to keep bones and joints in the correct alignment so our muscles are used correctly. Improper function of these bones and joints can result in arthritis and joint pain. Proper posture reduces the stress on ligaments that hold the spinal cord together which in turn minimizes the possibility of an injury.

4. It gives a healthy spine – Good posture is important to keep your back and spine healthy. If you sit in your office chair or stand for hours, you might be injuring the intricate structures of your spine and over time it can lead to spinal problems like constricted blood vessels and nerves.

proper spine curvatures. Add crunches to your daily routine as they strengthen the abdominals, which will reduce your pelvis from tilting forward.

Now whenever you feel sad or anxious, just try to change your posture, stand/sit straight and take a few deep breaths. It will make it easier for you to breathe fully and this will help you to relax and concentrate.
