(Keep in mind that students are usually grouped by literacy levels not numeracy)

• a theme• an excursion• a project• a text• student interest / need• current news events etc.

Two main ways to teach integrated tasks

1. Separate numeracy and literacy classes or teachers

Example: Integrate using a: theme “My Community”

Literacy Unit: Engage for LP, PP and Com

Numeracy unit: Recognise, give and follow simple and familiar oral directions

Level: Initial

2. Numeracy and literacy covered in the one class by one teacher

Example:Integrate using an: area of need “Compare a Developed Country to an Developing Country”

Literacy Unit: Implement and review a projectNumeracy Unit: Investigate numerical and statistical information in a range of contexts

Level: Certificate II
