• When writing your essay, you must include supporting details called concrete details

• Different types of details may be used for different approaches or topics, including:• Facts• Statistics• Examples/Incidents

When Writing…

• Ask yourself: • What does the audience want to know? • Is it relevant to my listeners? • If I were in the audience, and I didn't know

anything about the topic, what would me interest the most? • What does the audience already know? • Will the audience care about my topic?

IN PREPARATION FOR OUR STORY…

• Your Prompt: You are going to INFORM your audience about the cause and effect of gangs in a society. You will answer what they are (define), why they exist, and what their purpose is .

• For your commentary, you will need to make sure you are correctly citing any sources you use. Remember, MLA format!!! (OWL Purdue for correct citation information)

• This paper will be 250-400 words and is due FRIDAY, April 5.
