Why do we need to Learn English?

The answer should be easy. English is a universal language (global language in case we are not the only

creature who can speak.) The world has changed. We can no longer live alone in our country anymore. If you

want to learn the world you need to learn english....

With IT, we can open ourselves to the world and the only way we can connect to the world is to the unviersal

    language.

If you are a business man you would have to learn english to expand your business to oversea.

If you are a students you would have to learn english for your own bright future or, at least, pass the exam.

If you are an employee you would have to learn english for the benefit of your career.

Even if you are just a street walker you still want to learn english to understand what's going on in the world....

No matter who you are. Learn English is very important. You can't avoid it and do not avoid it before you getting

    too far behind.

The importance of the Internet grows rapidly in all fields of human life, including not only researchand education but also marketing and trade as well as entertainment and hobbies. This implies that it

becomes more and more important to know how to use Internet services and, as a part of this, to readand write English.

Of course, the majority of mankind cannot use the Internet nowadays or in the near future, since they

live in countries which lack the necessary economical and technological infrastructure. But the

Internet causes polarization in developed countries, too: people are divided into Internet users andInternet illiterates, and as the use of the Internet grows and often replaces traditional methods of

communication, the illiterates may find themselves in an awkward position.

In general, it is easy to learn to use Internet services. The worst problems of Internet illiteracy are, inaddition to lack of economical resources of course, wrong attitudes. Older people are usually not

accustomed to live in a world of continuous and rapid change, and they may not realize the

importance of the Internet or the easiness of learning to use it.

But although Internet services themselves are, generally speaking, easy to learn and use, you will find

yourself isolated on the Internet if you are not familiar with English. This means that knowledge orlack of knowledge of English is one of the most severe factors that cause polarization. Learning to use

a new Internet service or user interface may take a few hours, a few days, or even weeks, but it takes

years to learn a language so that you can use it in a fluent and self-confident manner. Of course, whenyou know some English, you can learn more just by using it on the Internet, but at least currently thegeneral tendency among Internet users is to discourage people in their problems with the English

language. Incorrect English causes a few flames much more probably than encouragement and

    friendly advice.

In different countries and cultures, English has different positions. There are countries where Englishis the native language of the majority, there are countries where English is a widely known secondlanguage, and there are countries where English has no special position. These differences add to the

above-mentioned polarization. Specifically, it is difficult for people in previous colonies of other

countries than Great Britain (e.g. France, Spain, the Netherlands) to adapt to the necessity of learning

English. Locally, it may be necessary to learn the language of the previous colonial power since it is

often an official language and the common language of educated people; globally, English isnecessary for living on the Internet. And the more languages you have to learn well, the less time and

energy you will have for learning other things.

We are living in a competitive global environment. English is an all time preferred language all over theworld. Its the only international language accepted world wide. This only language can provide you a

taste of wisdom in todays world. Communication is a critical quality of a person which enhances his personality and ability. Better communication needs a good knowledge of the language to be used.English has acquired an independent identity across the country. In coming years all the updatedknowledge and wisdom will only be available in English only. This is a caution to all non-Englishspeaking people not only in India but world wide.

In India English language is inherited from the British who colonized the country and their language permeated

through some of the most important parts of society: the government, the media, the education system, the legalsystem, and gradually the social sphere as well. India is a vast nation and in terms of number of Englishspeakers, it ranks third in the world after USA and the UK. Around 4 percent of the population use Englishcovering a small number of about 40 million people which controls domains that have professional and socialprestige.

People are very emotional and sentimental regarding their regional language in India. They feel comfort andsatisfy their ego by talking in their regional languages wherever they go. They can not believe the fact that it canever extinct easily. But they have to accept the fact that their regional language knowledge is not enough to settheirposition in the global world. Whatever be the knowledge level and their local position in the area, they haveto accept this global language to be a successful person in their field. People who lack English knowledge foundthemselves very inferior in the run of life.

Though it is not classified as one of the 15 languages of India, English remains the associate official languagealong with Hindi, which is the official language. In fact English is proffered for speeches and in official letters overHindi. The reason for this is the large number of languages and that several people are unfamiliar with Hindi. There are several English news channels and many English mews papers are published from almost every state. So there are plenty of opportunities. Old traditions, ethos and even languages cannot help the society to developin the world of outsourcing and globalization.

Hence there is a great need of knowledge of English for present and coming generations of India. Still racialdiscrimination can be seen in education which makes the people deprive of knowledge of this language. Onlynine of the 28 states and three Union territories in India have introduced English as compulsory subject fromClass I.

All modern equipments and job assignments along with latest technologies, websites and wisdom come from US

only. There is no other way. With Indian students going to the US in bulk, the American accent will surely plagueIndia. Using American English is a kind of fashion among young generation of India. Yup dude, youre bang on!Doh etc are the common saying among young Indians.

In higher education English is the premier prestige language. Careers in any area ofbusiness or commerce, orwithin the government, or in science and technology require fluency in English. English should be introduced inprimary schools across the country. We must give due importance to English as it is an international language.Only those students who are good in English can perform better in every sphere of their life.

Learn this global language and find the way towards globalization!
