• Educational technology is the study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and improving performance by creating, using and managing appropriate technological processes and resources.

Why we use technology?

Studies show that it can:

• Influence student academic performance

• Develop higher order thinking and problem solving

• Improve student motivation, attitute and interest their learning

• Help to prepare students for the workplace

• Adress the needs of low-performing and at-risk students and those with learning handicaps

When does technology work best?

Studies show that it works best when it:

• Directly supports the curriculum objectives being assessed

• Provides opportunities for student collabration

• Visualizes abstract concepts

• Is used in enviroments where teachers, the school community, and school and district administrators support the use of technology.

The benefit of using ICT

• Efficiency and cost saving across the system

• Increases in productive time for teaching

• Increases learner choice, opportunity and the quality of the learners’ experience

• Raises standards
